Hello and welcome.

Can you define "Horrible Performance"? It's a pretty vague description.

What device(s) are you using. I am using the Motorola HS605 and HS850, and the Jabra BT250v. I like the 605 best.

I started with H500, Then Motorola w/ On foldable on off boom, now the JBT500.. reception is just horrible on all... callers break up constantly, sound quality is greatly affected. I have had bluetooth with prvious phones and worked great. Am I missing something?

Have you checked the review in the Bluetooth forum and on Barjohn's site?

Yes. So far, only one great recommendation of "Blackberry HS650", which I cannot find anywhere. Not sure if it was a mistype or what.

I have the Plantronics Discovery 655 and it's amazing. There is a Blackberry branded one coming out on the 27th that fixes a few of the bugs (for $40 more, see BlackBerry -> accessories) The comfort and sound are amazing. I've owned only Motorola Bluetooth HS's in the past, so those are what I'm basing my recommendation on.

Thumbs down

I have had the same problems with Bluetooth. I'm on my 2nd so far and I have right now the Motorola 850. I had the Blackberry right in my face and had my headset on and I am still getting static. Also when I called someone the said I sounded like Charlie Brown's teacher. I think that I am going to a traditional corded headset.

I've been using the Motorola H700 with the 8703e from Sprint and I've had no issues at all.

I think the best advice anyone can give a person in search of a BT device is don't go by any recomendations. I know that sounds un-helpful, but BT headsets are subjective at best. There are people on this site who swear by this or that, but the bottom line is everybody has a different opinion of what is the best and what may make this heasdset the best in one persons opinion may make it the worst in the opinion of somebody else. My advice is based on MY OWN EXPERIENCE ONLY... buy SEVERAL, audition them all see what you like see waht you dont like. Use them in the car outside, in the mall in the office, all the places you go. You cant get a feel for a device by using it inside only. I have tried most of the mainstream offerings out there, and I keep returning to a few which work for ME maybe not you. Try a bunch, chances are you will find one you like, and can live with.

Um, but at $60+ per device, this gets real expensive real fast!

I have the Ericssen HBH-662 and it works great. I just wish I can set it up to auto answer similar to the Treo.

Don't keep all of them, just keep the one which works best for you...

I bought the cheapest Jabra I could find, $20 for the BT150, and it works with no trouble on my 8700g.

Maybe I'm missing something in the fidelity, but I only use it in the car.

That new design from Blackberry looks very interesting. One thing they do not show is the ear hook for added stability, so I a interested in knowing how secure it makes the headset while wearing it.

A bit pricey to be sure, but if the bugs are worked out, and the earpiece fits nice and snug and does not bounce around while you are walking, then I might just purchase that model tomorrow...the 27th.

Thanks for the heads up.

Default Can't connect

I enabled my BT on a BB8703e. I then instructed the unit to search for my Motorola BT headset, but ti could not locate the device. How do I get it to recognize my headset?

Did you make the headset "discoverable?" I don't have a Moto headset, but in the two I've used so far (Cardo Scala and Plantronics 640) it involved holding down the power button until the indicator light started flashing alternate colors.

Unless it's discoverable, it won't be visible to the BB. After it's paired, though, you won't have to do anything special to use it other than enable Bluetooth on the BB and turn the headset on.
