Default 8900 freezes when I select "Message Icon"

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to transfer my wife's 8320 to the 8900. There are over 2500 sms text messages and 1300 emails. I have tried the device switch wizard, and wiping the 8900, and doing a database restore (just using contacts, email, sms, and memos). In all cases when I select the messages icon, it goes to the message list and freezes up. The only thing I can think of is some indexing that may occur for the search function. Anyone else have a suggestion (other than delete the messages -> she insists she needs them for her real estate job)?

You are still able to open the messages folder on the 8320?

The only thing I know to do is start over from scratch. Instead of using the switch device wizard, wipe the 8900 and reinstall the OS, and then do a straight backup restore of the 8320 to the 8900. That's me. Maybe someone else will have a better idea.

Yes I can on the 8320. I'll try wiping the 8900 and reinstalling the OS ...

Wirelessly posted (8820)

I guess if were me I'd try to clean up the inbox on the old blackberry. I'd ask myself, Do I really need to keep it all? What can I get rid of? Make the inbox significantly smaller and try again. But I suspect there's something else going on and that won't fix it.

Probably no way of knowing, but maybe someone has a good reason to think one or the other (or something else)...... I wonder if it was the size of the message data boogering things up, or if there were one or more corrupted SMS messages. Or maybe even another possible explanation.

Any, glad you got it working!
