Default Fastest Media Card

Please Login to Remove!

What is best media card for storage capacity and speed for the 8900?

Have looked at several sites and some don't list the class or are only class 2.

I want a 16GB with class 6 speed. Or, is class 2 sufficient for video transfers.

Any inputs are appreciated.

Thanks,

I looked at a Transcend? also. It had good ratings and was class 6. Says it works for the 8900. Would 8gb be enough. Maybe 100 pics max and same number of songs. But, how many standard length videos would go on an 8gb. Wouldn't need more than two or three, if that.

I have only had this off-brand card for about a month, but so far, it's working great! It's a 16g class 6 and is supposed to have a life time warranty. Not sure how the warranty would work and I hope I never have to find out. It cost $53.99 US. That's the reason I took a chance on a off-brand, the price was so low.

Thanks wawasteele,

I will check it out. the 16gb class 6 would be great. Do you know how many GB are used to download typical movies and where do people download them from? I assume it would be illegal to rip a movie from a store boug DVD and it would be protected anyway.

Anyone try this or know if it does take any store bought DVD and convert to put on your 8900.

I'm afraid can't help you with that. I got the large card to store pictures I take, videos I take, data I store on it and sync with my laptop, and my fairly large collection of music I have ripped from my CDs or bought online. You might check the media section of BlackBerryForums, Media Center - BlackBerryForums.com : Your Number One BlackBerry Community. I just don't watch that many movies. I know there are procedures to go through to get videos (at least some kinds) onto the BB. I did a few a long time ago with my 8100, but only to see how it works. I don't remember now how I did it.

Thanks Again,

The program looks and sounds like it will do what I want, and I have had good luck with Handango. Sounds like it will take my store bought DVDs and relativley easily put them on to my 8900 from the PC. If I get some good feedback from here and your link, I will try it.

I downloaded a free trial of Mobiola Video Studio, great reviews and no sunc problems. When I get the sdhc card today, I will try and post results. Anyone have this? I believe once you drag and drop from pc to Mobiola (which is on the PC) you then need to use another program to upload. I was thinking of Roxio to drag and drop to the 8900 media card. Anyone with ideas on that or has used Mobiola to give me advice. I will figure it out either way.

Just installed the media card and the recognizes it and shows folders.

It asked if I wanted to format when first installed, I did. Hope that was roght thing to do. I don't know what the system folder is for. All others make sense, but all are empty.

What is the system folder and should it be empty to start.
