JS, I'm guessing you didn't have the problem I did with the Desktop manager? (Did you try to load any of the Apps via the DM?)

"Not enough available space" Despite the fact that I have NO apps installed on my BB with exception to AppWorld that I dl'ed via the browser? Because of the error I couldn't install any new apps or uninstall factory apps from the manager because not having enough space blocks you from hitting the 'next' button.

I didn't have a problem with DM. But the issues I posted above were enough for me to downgrade.

I'm excited!

I will probably have to redo my GPS hack but that's no problem. Don't use App World anyways cause it sucks but I do use BBM5.

Will report back in a bit

BBM was forced to downgrade / remove on install.
Google maps works fine.
buzzd and flycast work fine.

app world is toast.

Probably going to go back down soon because of that problem them. I kind of need that function to learn the phone. I like the new OS though just because I've played with my buddies Tour shortly after I got my Curve and it feels like a mix of new software + a Tour ya know?

Blues I was wondering the same thing. The first time I picked up a BB (or any smart phone at that fact) was a month ago so I am very new to these devices. But thats the jist I was getting. JS didn't have a problem so maybe I am isolated here as far as "forumers" who have tried the beta.

Sorry for the poor question. Like I said I am new... what are the chances a newever version gets leaked any time soon?

You guess is as good as mine. It could happen but it will probably will be after the newer get a more stable version of 5.0 since 8330 probably isn't that high on the list. (Even though the 83xx series has been a top selling phone) Plus since it has 96 MB of Memory I could see RIM pushing it out in the future.

But we do not know for sure and we won't until one is leaked

OS is noticeably faster and more responsive.
Menus are different in all system apps. Some things are in submenus, and menus have a more polished, rounded look.
3rd party themes (of course) no longer work.
SMS conversations are threaded.
Folder contents are now shown on a semi-transparent tab.
Profiles is now 'Sounds' app, and 'F' shortcut no longer works.
Volume options are now 1-10, silent and vibe. You can set length/count of vibe.
'Sounds' app has a better and easier to use menu system.
Alarm clock is now 'Clock' app, and 'R' shortcut no longer works.
Clock app looks like clock on outside of BB Flip when opened.
Bedside option is available.
Media player has a nicer interface.
Fast forward and rewind no longer move in chunks in the media player; you can move to any point in a song/video.
Photo interface pulls up all photos by default, and has a search bar at the top.
More font sizes are available in the browser.
Browser is NOT tabbed (disappointing).
There's a new Files app that's a file browser. Looks like it's meant for BES file sync, but it works fine for me as a device browser.

I had to re-download the following, but they worked fine once I did:

Facebook
Google Talk (RIM)
All Google apps

These apps worked fine without being reinstalled:

Pandora
Evernote
YouVersion Bible
Mobipocket Reader
BerryBuzz (had to type in reg code again after OS upgrade, had to be reconfigured)
SmartAlerts (had to type in reg code again after OS upgrade, had to be reconfigured)

These apps did not work after the upgrade:

BB App World
BBWeather
QuickPull Lite
Very good feedback. I'm experiencing all of the above as well. I'm almost tempted to go back until the official release of this OS. The BB App World not working is driving me insane =/. QuickPull lite actually stopped working for me before I upgraded and cause my BB to randomly shut down. I love this site

Wish there was a 5.0 for the 8310. I would love the threaded SMS.

Not enough memory on the 8310 for 5.0. It won't be released. There are 3rd party apps that offer threaded SMS. Check the aftermarket section.

Anyone still running this?

If so how has it held up?

Can we hope to see an OS 5.0 for the 8330m soon?

I am, using this hybrid:

Nathanix Blackberry Resource - Blackberry Curve 8330 OS 5.0 Installation

I like it.

Disclaimer: I ran ShrinkOS on it before loading, and I try to keep my 3rd party application list short.

There is one - and only one - big problem with all versions of 5.0 that I have tried on the 8330, including the one I have now: there is a memory leak, and the OS will reboot itself when it eventually runs out of memory. It's most noticeable during phone calls, but also happened once when I was downloading YouTube videos from the Vuclip site.

Jsconyers ran the same hybrid for a while and ended up taking it back off. He found that his phone would reboot whenever he got about 45 minutes into a phone call.

I rarely make phone calls that last longer than 20 minutes. That being the case, I have found that I've been able to circumvent the memory leak problem entirely with scheduled daily reboots, using this hybrid. It's been a month at least since I had any issues, and all in all, I'm very happy with 5.0.

YMMV.

Love the new avatar, BTW! Better than Dexter.

Hopefully VZW will release the Tour2 soon!

I figure a new year I'd change it up a bit.. I'm thinking about changing my sig as well, just haven't thought about too much yet. lol

I got this beta to load on my MEID 8330, and I'm trying with this official as well.

Is your MEID listed as an 8330 or an 8330m? Go to the Help screen by pressing Alt + Caps + H and confirm what it shows.
