Default Time Zone Discrepancy

Please Login to Remove!

I just returned from a trip to a place that was 3 hours earlier than my home time zone. While I was there, I set my BB 9700 to local time (Zulu - 10 hr), and on my return I reset to my home time zone (Zulu - 7 hr)

Now, when I sync with my Outlook Calendar, all appointments on Outlook are 3 hours later than on my BB. Looks like the BB during sync is acting like it's still at Zulu - 10, even though the clock shows Zulu - 7.

BB software is v 5.0.0.330.

Help would be appreciated...

Thanks

Just to be clear, was the 9700 set to autmatically change time zones, and you ok'd the change each time? Or did you manually change it?

If you manually changed, did you change the time zone each time, or did you just change the time setting?

The bottom line questions is: When you sync'd the blackberry with Outlook on the computer, were both the blackberry and the computer set to the same time zone when you syc'd?

Also, by the way, update your profile.

Thanks for your reply. The 9700 is set to prompt a change in time zones when it detects a need for that, and I approved the change both times. Both the 9700 and the computer are set to the same time zone.

I just noticed a discrepancy within Calendar on the BB: I have an appointment that, in Day View, shows as 7:00-8:00 AM. But in Appointment Details for that same appointment, it shows as 7:00-11:00 AM. That was before I sync'd. AFTER I sync'd with Outlook, Blackberry Day View shows 7:00-8:00, but Appointment Details for the same appointment shows 10:00-11:00 (that is, with the previous 3 hr time difference applied). Outlook shows 10:00-11:00.

Any thoughts?

Thanks -

What are you calling appointment details? Do you mean by this the edit screen after you click on a calendar entry in one of the various (month, week, day, agenda) views?

I have no clue why you could see different information in one view compared to another, or between a view and the information in the edit screen.

When you see conflicting data like that, what happens after you do a hard reset (battery pull)?

If a battery pull fixes the error, good. If not, I guess the thing I might try is to clear the calendar database on the blackberry using the advanced backup/restore feature in desktop manager, and then re-sync with Outlook.

Are you by chance using any other calendar that interacts with the blackberry calendar, such as a google product, or really anything else that adds/removes/changes entries in your blackberry calendar?

I was referring to the edit screen after I click on a calendar entry.

The battery pull fixed it! All screens, both BB and computer now match!

Thanks much -

Amazing. But it is yet more proof that the battery pull fixes weird behavior.

I'm happy that's all it was.
