Default OS 4.1.0.284 but no Zen theme

Please Login to Remove!

Just picked up my 8700v in Melbourne with OS later than HK OS but no Zen theme. Do I have to go back one version? or is the theme downloadable somewhere independantly of the OS?

Cheers

I think the Zen theme is just locked, so you need to adjust the code a bit to get it to open.

Another user with an 8700v had the same issue. You have two rather easy approaches, one of which you're unable to do at the current time.

Apologies if it's been covered elsewhere but I am wondering, would it be possible to run zen theme with CSL 4.1.0.284 since I need the Chinese character support.

- Open up your BlackBerry.alx file with Notepad; located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.1.0.284_P2.0.0.120

- Search for 'zen'

- Just above it, find something that looks like:

Code:
<fileset Theme="Normal" Colour="True" series="8700" Java="1.0" _vendorID="123|201|170|114|171|134|169|202">
Remove _vendorID="123|201|170|114|171|134|169|202" and close/save the file.

- Open Desktop Manager and it should prompt you to update the Core Components (if not, open Application Loader and click on Next).

You can do these same steps for any other theme, as well. Just search for 'vendorid' and remove the tags from the XML.

I have the rogers version of .284 but no zen theme in that folder. ALthough I do have "net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_320x240.cod" with the following path:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.1.0.284_P2.0.0.120\Java

Does this mean that I have to install the zen theme from the baharti software and the rogers version doesn't come with the theme preloaded?

Can I keep the roges OS and only install the ZEN theme from another OS? If so, where can I find only the zen theme alx?

Thanks.

Shane

Fantastic! Worked like a charm! Thanks.

I noticed that in my blackberry.alx file there are also themes for other carriers such as T Mobile, Orange, Vodaphone, Bell Canada, O2, etc. Would removing the vendor from these files allow me to use these themes as well?

I was going to try and see, but I didn't want to cause network conflicts on my rim (although not sure why a theme would cause this). better safe than sorry.

Thanks again.

Shane

thought so.

And thanks again, jibi. Sorry for the seemingly common-sensical questions. Just trying to be overdilligent before I cause a blackberry meltdown.

I can't even get past the first step.

I don't have a "Shared" folder underneath Research in Motion. All I have are these four:

AppLoader
Modem Drivers
RimDeviceManager
USBDriver

Under the AppLoader I've looked @ the Device.xml and the Vendor.xml but... nothing referring to Zen.

Suggestions? :(

Run the exe after downloading the OS, then you will have the shared folder.
