Okay so just finished working on the alx file for .108 and copied the L theme cod file over to the java folder in .108. Wiping the pearl with JL_CMDR, and then loading 4.2.1.108 with only modification being the new L theme, and taking off vendor restrictions on certain carrier themes. Unlike about an hour ago where all the 4.3 OS theme files were copied to the .108 directory which caused the old school BlackBerry look.

Good news working again with the L theme loaded on a 4.2.1.108 T-Mobile USA pearl. Still have issue with getting the cursor back into the left hand column once in the bottom row of apps. Give me a few min to get the alx file and the cod file ready for upload.

Here is a screen shot for you all, note this is in an unactive T-Mobile 8100 original Pearl.

EDIT: forgot to attach the screen shot

Thanks, now if I only had a way to get this loaded on to my 8320. But this passes my time, nevertheless.

I'm thinking maybe try putting the following files on from the 4.3.x OS. I would try one at a time to see if it helps.

com_plazmic_themereader.cod
net_rim_bbapi_menuitem.cod

Tired this with no new results, also tried this with copying all the theme's over from the 4.3 java set, to the 4.2.1 java set and got the 6230 look all over again.

Any other thoughts. Anyone?

Exclamation New 8130 Media Player on 8100.

So in my conquest to solve one issue, I found the next bit I am willing to potentially brick pearls for. In a look over the 4.3 alx file and java folder found the new media player, including voice memo app. After yesterday's failed attempt to get the L working properly on another Pearl decided to dig deeper. So in fixing that 8100, I am attempting to load the 8130 4.3 OS media player with the 4.2.1.108 OS out for the 8100. Cross your fingers because I know many would love full screen playback and voice memo on their Pearls.

I'll let you all know how this turns out.

yeah I'm kind of a perfectionist. But more than anything I think this proves I'm impatient. For we all know that the 4.2.2 or 4.3 OS update for the original 8100 Pearls will do everything I am trying to accomplish.

And really I think the real reason I am trying to get this done is show that the old pearl isn't yesterday's hardware. I mean the original Pearl was revolution in terms of BlackBerrys and many (including myself) have written it off in a sense with the release of the 8800, then the 8300/8320/8310 and now the 8120/8130. And, I just want to bring this older piece of hardware on point with the newer ones. And in no way am I blaming RIM for not yet releasing 4.2.2 for the Pearl, for they are a great company, and good people. I'm just kind of sad in a sense to see a product that really did change my day-to-day work life phased out due to software. I mean I carried 6290, 7100, 8700, but the Pearl was finally the one that like took the step to really make me never want not to have a BlackBerry. Sorry to be nostalgic but that's my view, and I'm just trying to do this product some justice.... hopefully if I can get it working.

A 6290? Don't recall that one.

Sometimes it is good to just move along. Just my way of thinking.

wow if you got the media player to work that would be awesome. But the beta 4.3 floating around has a buggy media player. If you have a headset and you activate it the next song tends to play thru speaker.
