Please Login to Remove!

Oh the joys of being a mac using blackberry owner! Can anyone tell me how to get my music onto the blackberry so I can select my own ring tone etc? I've be pathetically grateful as I've been driving myself slightly nuts working out the bb interface... cheers, melodramapix

As of right now, there's only one way to do it. That is, you have to burn the music into the CD. Once you do that, than you rip the music from the CD back into the Mac as MP3.

You may find it weird that you have to do that but it's because of the Copyright protection they added to the music.

Several weeks ago, I heard on the news that someone was able to hack into Apple's Copy protection and was able to break it. That means, you can freely copy music that you download from iTunes and copy it to any device you want. As far as I know, the program is not for sale yet. It will be sometime in the future.

ok wait lets BACK up... if the music wasn't purchased from apple disregard the above post. if it's your music from a cd or lets say SOME other source and it's mp3 your all good. What you do it make the song in whatever length you want. then from there if you can host it then host it and download it. if you can't then you can send it as a attachment to your gmail account then access the gmail from the BB browser in HTML mode (Search for this it's around here somewhere) then you can select it and follow the steps to save it. Only stuff purchased from itunes cannot be used.
edit found it for ya

and if you have a memory card installed in your blackberry (like in my 8100) the card will mount on your desktop like an external hd. you just need to drag your music files over to the music folder (Pearl > Blackberry > Music) in it.

heck, if you're really clever, you can drag your songs out of itunes into that folder and it will copy them over for you.

The pearl plays MP3 AND iTunes AAC (m4a). It will not play any DRM format (so nothing purchased from the Apple iTunes Store).
