This OS should be the one loaded on your Boost Mobile 8330. The only way to get it to load would be if you wiped your device and would need to load your OS again.

And, welcome to the forums.

installed 5.0.0.438 this morning.
Been running descent all day, except for getting the hourglass popping up. Sometimes it would go away after about a minute, but within the last 2 hours its been coming up and staying resulting in a battery pull for a remedy.
Anyone else in the same boat or am i rowing alone here?

Welcome to the forums.

This could be due to memory. When you see this, go to Options > Status and check your file free. If it's low, you will need to do a battery pull.

Try a battery pull. Send yourself one and see what happens.

Anyone have any luck with themes with 5.0? The themes I had worked but acted strangely so I went back to the preloaded theme. I am afraid to download any new themes for fear they wont work right. It seams the 4.5 themes wont work, but there are none I can find for the curve at 5.0. Do I need to wait so some can be developed or tweaked to fit?

Go to Options > Security Options > Firewall and make sure SMS and MMS are not checked.

Firewall is disabled.. but i unchecked the boxes anyway (they were checked)

I resent a test, and received my own test, and had a co-worker send me a test, and it worked - so we're good now.

Thanks!!!!

That is 13 MB Ideally you would want more then 13. But this OS has a bad memory leak so I would watch it closely. I've already lost my whole calendar.

It sound likes the cons outweight the pros so far? Isn't a newer OS supposed to make your BB run faster not slower? What other that threaded texts does OS 5.0 offer that 4.5.0.175 doesn't?

There are a lot of subtle things that make the new OS nicer than the previous. It'd be easier to demonstrate them to you so I'm not going to try to explain them. The threaded texts is nice, but if they don't fix the memory leak, a lot of people probably will downgrade back to 4.5.

Some things that aren't necessarily "upgrades" or "add-ons" to the new OS that I've noticed is that some programs run a lot smoother. For example, Pandora now runs smoother when transitioning between menus and the Full Menu. That could just be something that I notice and is happening to my BB.

One thing that is REALLY starting to irritate me is the battery issue. I don't know what's going on but I can fully charge my BB and whilst on my way to work, which is about a 15 minute drive, and while listening to Pandora, my battery goes down to almost more than half. My original BB gave me almost 9 days of battery even while texting, using Pandora, using Google Maps, or the internet. I have 2 batteries, both which are new, and it happens to both of them.

So basically, in response to your question, I would say this: download it, upgrade, and give it a shot. I'm still in the process of testing 5.0 and am starting to slowly think about downgrading. Who knows though. Maybe there will be another update for 5.0 or maybe Sprint will release a more stable version.

Just my 2 cents.

SO far so good with 5.0! I had to do a battery pull this morning because my phone showed 0 bytes but other than that it was a seamless transition with no lost data or apps or Calendar!

If you BlackBerry showed 0 File free I really would not call that seamless, it's a ticking time bomb till you actually do lose data, and you won't know it till you go looking for it and it isn't there.

To fix the memory leak and/or other problems you'll need a hybrid.

BBHybrids Forums - Downloads - 8330 - 5.0.0.438/451 Hybrid (v2.0)

or:

Nathanix 8330 5.0.0.438 Hybrid V2 (451) - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com
