Exclamation Help Q10 Is Mixing Up My Caller Id

Please Login to Remove!

I'm facing some strange problems with my q10. When someone is calling me it shows a different persons name on the screen. Sometimes it will stop and sometime it will keep occurring and I'm not sure what to do. And now for some reason there's always a star on the text messaging app but I didn't receive any new texts. Can anyone help me please?

Did you recently backup, update and restore your data on the Q10?
There are several reports of contacts getting jumbled or messed up after a restore.

I didn't do any back or restore, the problem just started happening. I tried to update the software but that didn't help either. I'm not sure what to do.

NJBB- Have you heard or noticed any similar issues with the Z10? Apparently this is a problem as noted on the other forum.

I was going to get this phone this week but I think I may wait it out with the old 9930 a bit longer since this sounds like a major headache!

There are documented issues with backing up and restoring contacts.
I updated my Z10 to a leaked version and then Link wouldn't restore any data.
Since I don't keep anything critical on my Z10 as I don't feel it is quite production ready (for me), it wasn't a huge problem.

I completely agree with this statement.

Curious: Why do you bother with the expense of a second phone to your Nokia; especially when it isn't suitable for data that counts?

That you for your concern. BlackBerry gave me a Z10. It does not have a SIM in it and I am (forever) waiting for the software updates that will make it usable for me. There is no additional expense, just aggravation.

I find the aggravation to be more expensive than the cost of the phone (and that goes for a lot of electronics these days - quick to market w/o full R&D). I'm going through hell right now with a new Pioneer head unit for my car that claims it has a working app mode using the iPhone 5 (which I have for that purpose only) and it's been a nightmare to get running.

Anyway, thanks for the info. I guess I'd better wait a bit longer for an update or two before diving into this device but due to the fact that I've dropped my 9930 a few times now, the buttons don't always respond very well so I'm looking to move on. Just don't know with what yet but that's another whole discussion.

Actually, this thread from Crackberry seems to cover this topic a little bit more. Seems to be an issue with 10.1 whereby the same number within multiple contacts OR non-linked apps like FB add to the mix of issues. Apparently you want only one number assigned to one contact or it will just give the number w/o the matching contact info. Since I don't own this device, I can't vouch for its validity but it seems accurate if everyone is pointing to the same temp solution. Obviously an update is in order from BB to address this (one would hope).
