Default Contacts-to-PC software.....or lack of?!

Please Login to Remove!

We've all just been given 8520's at work and so far so good.

I've installed the Desktop Software - am I right in saying that it doesn't have the facility to view, add, delete & amend phonebook entries?

This is surely a pretty basic function and I'm surprised that it's not included; even my ancient Nokia software had it!

Unless of course I haven't looked properly.....

Never had it, never will. Most people either use Outlook or Google to sync with their Blackberry.

"Even my [fill in the blank] .... "

BlackBerrys are different. Forget what you know from other systems.

What NJBB says---Outlook is probably the most seamless with BlackBerry. I don't have knowledge of the Google solution.

Agree. RIM doesn't need to reinvent the wheel with some sloppy contact editor when most PCs already Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Address Book, etc... and Google Address books.

Thanks for the replies.

Email addresses are not the issue here, just my phonebook.

Can one of you let me know the procedure to sync the 2 items and DISPLAY my phonebook entries onscreen please??!!!

Download Desktop Manager ((DM) from blackberry.com. Or alternately, if you got a CD with the BlackBerry, it will be on the CD. Install it, connect your device, and take a look. As already stated, you will not be able to see and edit the data on the device. One of the uses of DM is to sync the device with an application such as Outlook, but there are other alternatives within DM and not just Outlook. You can edit your address book in the app and sync with the device, or vice versa. But you will not be able to display and edit the data ON the BlackBerry except ON the BlackBerry. You can edit on something else (Outlook, Google, Yahoo....) and then sync with the device. That is the way it is.

Same difference, it's all the BlackBerry Address Book contacts.

How to sync... would really depend on what applications you have on your PC.
