Thumbs down Desktop Manager 6 forces mass storage mode

Please Login to Remove!

Well basically I would like to know if there is a way to start up DM6 and NOT to enable msm on my BB...

Since I listen to music over bluetooth directly from my BB and I want to connect to DM for tethering...

This was possible in older versions but in DM6 I cant figure how to do it...

Even with a password, if I do not input the password it will not allow tether.. but if I do, it will force mass storage mode... :(

Thanks

It's a setting on your BB. You can disable it totally

To disable mass storage mode complete the following steps:

On BB, open:

Options > Media Card or Memory

To disable Mass Storage Mode, scroll down to Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode when connected and change it to No.

Press the Menu key and click Save.

Enter your smartphone password and click Enter (if prompted).

For more info see this doc KB13564-How to enable or disable mass storage mode on the BlackBerry smartphone

I don't know if what OP is seeing is the same thing or not, but with Desktop Manager 6, and even with mass storage mode disabled, some apps will still see mass storage mode enabled when Desktop Manager is running. At least this is my experience with the premium Documents To Go files sync. I theorize it is related to the new media sync in Desktop Manager.

If in the OP's case mass storage mode is indeed disabled, I don't have any ideas. There is no setting in Desktop Manager that I've seen. Perhaps set Desktop Manager to not sync media files...but I don't know.

Thanks both of you for replying... But the problem persist...

To simplify a little bit... the problem is

- I want to tether and at the same time listen to music directly from the BB

> To tether I need to have DM running on the computer (even if I configure the network out of DM software) otherwise it will give me an error.
> To run DM it ask for my BB password.
> When I input the password it automatically activates MSM no matter how is set on the BB

So Im out of luck here. My headphones are bluetooth and my laptop does not have BT... so I wanted to listen to music over my BB, specially if my playlists and favorite songs are in there

Also.. I do not sync media content... I just drag and drop.

WELL I DID IT...

it turns out that I have to connect the device, let DM to activate MSM and then I have to go and click to "eject" the USB mode...

After that, the bb reads again the card and let me play songs, while I am still using the tethering mode

So you eject the media card drive that is created when mass storage mode is engaged?

Interesting. Good job!
