Default Wireless Update

Please Login to Remove!

I clicked on wireless update and it downloaded the new version of the OS. Before I install, it says it will take about 2 hours. Will I lose all of my setting, contacts, etc?

No, you won't lose them. (Unless something goes horribly wrong with the update.)

Ok, thanks. I've never used BB Desktop and I don't have my usb cord with me at work....
Can't decide if I should run the update now or wait until I go home and backup my bb.

I would wait and create a backup. Better safe than sorry.

Default Confused about "wireless update"

Forgive my confusion, but I've never updated an OS before. But why would you utilize BB Desktop software...if your doing a wireless update? Could you please explain?

I used Blackberry Desktop to backup my phone data before I did the wireless update....this way if something went wrong, my data was on my desktop.

Wireless Update is a new and largely unproven feature. Using the Desktop Manager software is the tried-and-true method that's been working for years.

Is this a wireless update for Verizon Tour? I went to application -> wireless update -> Check for Updates but its says No Updates Available.

Is there another easier method for Verizon updates? My current OS is 4.7.1.40.

They have not released anything official. You can get newer OS's from various locations.

I did the wireless update last week, no problems. It did take about an hour and my device got warm with a hefty battery drain.

I did my first wireless update when .57 was released. Went thru without a problem. Also did it on my son's 8330 when the .175 came out, again no issues.

I do regular backups on my PC, though, using Desktop Manager.
