Default 8700 and Parallels. See the device, won't sync it.

So this isn't a problem with Parallels not seeing the device, but rather that while DM will see the blackberry just fine, it will not sync with it for anything.

Any type of procedure that requires that the DM software communicate with the 8700 results in the DM software locking up. I've left it running (saying that it's not responding) for 10 minutes and nothing changed. The CPU wasn't doing anything the entire time either, so it's not like it was chugging through something and I cut it off.

Any suggestions? I'm using the latest version of DM (4.1 SP1) and the latest public paralles build (RC3).

Hi there!

I've got 2 questions for you. What version of XP are you running? are you Runing XP with Service Pack 2?

Further, if you are. download "bootcamp" from apple. Create the Apple Extra's cd/dvd.

Try installing the apple extras into parallels. THis may unlock bluetooth/usb syncing application loading/os updating.

Further, if your really gutsy (i was burned badly) try installing XP sp2 with bootcamp. This will treat your entire computer like a native PC. loading your BB should/may work.

I use parallels too, and am trying to figure this out, however I am using XP home edition with out an SP, so i can't install the apple extra's cd to see if it will work.

best of luck, will keep you posted on progress.

(ps, sort of a shame all the BS we need to go through to get this to work)

I ended up buying The Missing Sync

It's $40, but it just worked out of the box. Had another Mac user who was having similar problems and I got tired of dicking around with them looking for a solution.

So far it's been flawless.

Default BB USB connection to Parallels

I tried all of the suggestions on Parallel's and Blackberry forums to get my BB to synch with Parallels. Finally I found the perfect solution and it worked immediately - dump Parallels, load FUSION as your VM program and everything works without any fancy tricks or computer expertise. It's also a much better program all around and it's free. What a shame that this annoying problem couldn't be fixed by Parallels after so many months of complaining by its customers

Parallels is a GREAT program but I also had the same BB sync issues that everyone else was seeing. I switched to Fusion and my issues went away. There are some things I miss from Parallels but in the end this issue forced me to make the change. Now I'm enjoying Fusion just about as much as I was enjoying Parallels and downloading new images for other OS's (under Fusion) is much faster then the lame Torrent methods that are available for Parallels.
