I can't seem to charge the BB with a travel USB power plug and a micro USB cable. Also the BB won't charge from a Brookstone portable battery I have for traveling. The BB just won't charge, no icon change at all, but it will after several unplugs give a warning box saying to properly plug in the USB cable. Anyone having issues using third party USB chargers with their VZW 9930?

I'm using the Verizon desktop charging cradle. No issues for me.

I have the same issue and, in calling my service provider, it was related to me that it might be an impedance matching problem that is cable related. I tried several aftermarket external battery packs with different cables and they all exhibited the same problem that Silver described. Any suggestions to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Get a charging unit made specifically for your device, preferably made/sold/branded by RIM.

I've not had a problem with any of the chargers to work with all my previous Blackberry's but I have found a solution! I used a Belkin "power only" cable and it works. It opens my TeleNav application when I connect it but it does work and I now have a way to use an external battery pack. Also, I checked all three battery packs with the Belkin cable and all three charge my 9930. Sooooo, is there a firmware change on the horizon or will I always have to use this type of cable to externally charge my phone?

I ran some additional experiments and if you use a cable from the external charger and use the Blackberry charging pod it appears to solve the charging issue and it successfully charges the 9930. Hope this helps.
