Default Does 9800 generally have bad reception

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 9800. My colleagues have respectively an iphone and a sony phone. We use the same telephone company provider. When inside a building the reception on my phone is significantly worse than all other phones I have tried. I even have a BB 8350i as well and that one also makes clearer calls.

It is SUPER annoying. I love the 9800. Only problem is that it is a bad phone... which is sort of why I have it.

Does the 9800 model have a general problem with the antenna or is it just mine?

Mine works fine. However, cell carriers and device manufacurers do not guarantee service indoors.

Might try an OS upgrade to see if that does anything to help.

Read the sticky at the top of the 9800 section.

Make sure you back up the device first.

No matter, so long as it has the language(s) you need or want to use.

??? This is an interesting statement. You wouldn't have a 'good' phone.

Mine has as good a reception as any phone I've used in the last 10 or 15 years. Indoors and out. That much I like about it. Maybe you're holding yours wrong.

Make sure you have GPS enabled. Also I would like to know what your network settings are. There are a few tweaks you can do on BB's that you cant do on any other phones. I can tell you that as a Police Officer when I listen to phone taps. The Blackberries always have the highest db rating of any cellular phone. Which means they have very good antenna's.I iphone 4's usally are the worst.

@BBCOP

in the "location settings" I have the "location services" switched to on. But somehow the location shows all zero. Seems it has never been able to enable the GPS.

Strange no?

Which network settings are you referring to?
