Can't with bluetooth, but you can tether using the USB. See the FAQ for an article on using your BB as a modem, or use the SEARCH feature for "tether".

You will also need a tether plan added to your account since you are on ATT.

It is easy with Windows 7 on the laptop. Just click the bluetooth icon in the notification area of the taskbar, to start the pairing. Once paired, the 9700 will go into modem mode. You don't need USB.

Well, my Windows 7 device will not allow it to be used as a modem.

I checked with some of our experts and at least in the US, you can only use bluetooth tethering on Verizon.

Is that unique to the 9700? I can BT tether just fine with my 9000 using ATTs desktop app.

I'm with Orange in the UK, not Verizon. The PC is a netbook with built-in bluetooth, running Windows 7 Starter.

I have installed the most recently version of blackberry desktop software in my laptop. Now with usb cable connected and desktop software running, now my laptop can go online via BB 9700!

my laptop is dell D430 with bluetooth, now the bluetooth section in the desktop software is disabled, not sure why? it can't detect my bluetooth? I am able to pair my bb and laptop with bluetooth and sent contacts from bb to laptop successfully. anyone has idea?

If I can get the bluetooth work, then one less cable to carry with.

Thanks!

btw: I have BB9700 with TMobile.

I used tetherbridge and it was easy. And as for what they say no tether bill either. We will see.

im on orange UK also and have always used bluetooth..

however I did it by pairing, then setting up a DUN to dial *99#, a modem string to setup the access point, and then the std username/password for wap/internet access on that network

I am running windows 7 as well
Started the desktop manager
Plugged the 9700 in and if I recall
Just configured the mobile internet
It was very user friendly and took no time at all
