a colleague of mine has the Samsung Omnia and I've played with it for a while.
I personally dont like it at all as I have a feeling its going to break into pieces if i drop it.
Just in order to dial a number, you have to hit like 3 buttons and the touch screen is a story on its own. Maybe cause I have fat fingers I can never get the digits right, let alone the letters
The alternative to input text is the girleley looking pen

Since your tag says Cingular (AT&T), don't make the mistake of buying it. The international version (GSM/UMTS/HSPA) as spec'ed above isn't going to work with AT&T's HSPA 3G network (850 vs. 2100). So you will end up defaulting the phone at 2G GSM while paying an expensive price for an unlocked non subsidized phone.

US version Omnias are being carried by Verizon, as in EV-DO. These are Windows Mobile, which doesn't support 16.7million colors as Symbian does. Hopefully, some US carrier will pick up the Omnia HD.

I suspect the rumored Samsung Android phone might also be Omnia based, as it seems Samsung is using this platform to stage different OSes.

To be honest the Omnia HD's specs aren't that much different from the Nokia 5800 which is already available in North America frequencies and unlocked. Maybe a camera with more megapixels and a slightly bigger screen with OLED but that's about it.
