Red face HELP! MY tunes are trapped!

Please Login to Remove!

I'm so frustrated I could scream. First off, I'm a BB noob and I have a Mac laptop. I have songs I downloaded from LimeWire that automaticaly saved to the iTunes thingy. I want to transfer my songs from the iTunes thingy to my Pearl, but I don't know how. I know to plug in the USB but I'm clueless as to what to do after that. And do I need some special software or something to make this work? Have mercy techno-Gods, help me!

Theres a bunch of posts on this...but i will try and give you a quick rundown

First things first:

1) Do you have a micro sd card to store the items on? If not, and if you want to start keeping music on your device, i would def. go out and buy one.

Once you have the sd card installed perform the following:
Go to the Media card menu by selecting
Menu>Options>Advanced Options>Mass Storage>Media Card

Set the following:
Media Card Support:ON
Encryption Mode: None
Mass Storage Mode Support: ON
Auto Enable...:YES

(2) Plug bb device into the computer, device should mount and display like a little disk. Double click on the icon and you should see several folders (one for music, pictures, video, ringtones.

(3) Locate Your Music (Note can vary depending on your local computers config)

Locate where on your computer itunes is storing your music. On many computers itunes is copying the information directly to the itunes library which is usually located by performing the following:

click on the computer hard drive
click on the "music" icon...(should see an icon for applications, movies, music etc)
Click on the itunes folder
Click on the itunes music folder
You should see your music there

If nothing shows up open itunes and select from the menu:
Itunes>Preferences>Advanced>General:
you should see a box with providing the path to the itunes music folder....locate that on your computer

(4)Adding Music to your Blackberry
What format are your songs in, i would imagine if they are downloaded via limewire they are probably mp3. Not sure all the media types the bb can play but i would think AAC or the protected mp4 which itunes serves up are not one of them. Regardless, you should be able to just simply drag the folder of the artist you want on there or even the individual files. Make sure you place them in the music folder on your blackberry.

(5) Rock out....you should be good to go.

limewire music is often stored in a different location than your itunes music. i think the standard is: Finder>"Your Profile Name">Shared

Default ... if that doesn't work ...

I have a PowerBookG4, and even though I can see my BlackBerry's storage card when tethered with the USB cable, dragging files into the folders resulted in an error message. Drats!

Fortunately, I found that using bluetooth worked fantastic!

Here's the step-by-step of what worked for me.

Select the Music application on your BB.

Choose "Receive file via Bluetooth" via the menu (of course, you will need to first introduce your computer to your BB via Bluetooth if you haven't done so yet).

On your Mac, click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar (by the Airport icon if you're not sure where to look), and select "Send File."

Use the awesome spotlight feature to search: mp3 and all the MP3 files on your computer will appear in one handy list. If you know the song title, or the artist, add that to your search to find exactly the file you want even quicker.

Select the file you want.

Click Send.

Then, click Send again in the Bluetooth panel.

Now, back to your BB to accept the file.

On my BB, for some reason, all mp3 files come in defaulting to the ringtone folder.

To get them to save to the Music folder, before accepting the file, I click the file folder, select Menu, select UP, select EXPORE, click the storage card, click the BlackBerry folder, select the Music folder, click MENU and then scroll up to "Select Folder."

Sounds harder than it is, although if your BB automatically knows where to put things you can skip that.

Then, accept the file and it transfers right over without a hitch!!!

So exciting.

Loving my first BlackBerry (with iBerry theme!).

Enjoy!!!

OMG BBDC You are AMAZING!! You're my live saver...I've been bluetoothing all my songs this whole time! Thanks soooo much....

BTW, just wondering: what format do the videos need to be in? I tried 3gp and an mpeg and both don't work on the Curve. Is it bc I only changed the extension?? Any thing you can tell me?? THANK YOU!!
