Question BES for Domino 4.1.3 and Domino 6.5.3 CF1

Please Login to Remove!

I Am New Bee. BES Documentation says that Domino 6.5 and up is okay. I don't need reiteration of what the doco says. I'm just wondering if, from real experience, any BES Admins are aware of compatiblity issues with installing on Domino 6.5.3 CF1 (we are not in a position to upgrade Domino at this time unless there is a technical reason to do so). Thanks for any responses!

Any version of 6.5 is fine but you really should run 6.5.4 and Windows 2003 SP1.

x14 can I ask how stable your BES is?

Our original 2.2 server is on Windows 2003 SP1, with Domino 6.5, but we have occassional Domino and/or BES hangs. So I was looking forward to a new server.

I just brought a new BES 4.1.3 for Domino online, running on Windows Server 2003 SP1 and Domino 6.5.4.3. (Dual Xeon, 3GB RAM) I thought it would be very stable, but I had a Domino and/or BES crash today during lunch, at a time when no administration or activations were taking place on the BES. (Only 50 users so far.) When I logged into the BES, Domino was not running. I just restarted Domino and it recovered quickly.

I had just spent the morning moving the top execs to the new box, so it didn't make my day.

I opened a ticket with RIM, sent them all the logs, so we'll see what happens.

Per RIM, the Domino panic in this case was caused because a user had "more than two duplicate address book entries". The problem is known and will be addressed in SP4 for BES 4.1.

Our BES is pretty stable considering how much it gets beat up on.

I'm not on 4.1.3 yet. Been stuck on DST patching our systems.
