Default Is this normal for a battery?

Please Login to Remove!

I had to stop using my Bold 9000 for a few months and in the meanwhile it must have drained the battery.

I plugged it in to charge and got a red light, followed by the white battery with blue lightning bolt. That shows up for about 30 seconds then the screen goes dark, the red light goes on and stays off.

The device won't power on while plugged in and the LED does not light up. The only time the LED or white screen comes on is if i disconnect the charging cable and reconnect.

Battery was probably damaged if you left it in the device for the few months that you did not use it.

Get a new OEM battery for your specific device, not a cheap knock off.

Thanks. The battery i'm using came with the device. Lasted 3 years now. I tested it with my PC and the charging process does start but then stops and the device is not connected to the PC anymore.

I took the battery out overnight and will try again to see if it'l charge. If not i suppose I will have to purchase a new battery. Any idea how much new ones cost? I would prefer a legit battery and not a knockoff.

No idea on cost. All the ones I have replaced were under warranty.

A knockoff should not even be a consideration.

I found actual BlackBerry Batteries in the source. They wanted $69. I phoned Rogers and they agreed to give me an upgrade so i'm just doing that instead of risking a new battery.

Upgraded to 9810, hope its decent.

I find the 9810 to be a great device, and once OS 7.1 comes out for it with UMA it'll be even better.

Very happy with the 9810. Only issues i've had are a few unresponsive touch screen things. Sometimes the "select text" markers come up when i don't want them too or i'll press one button on the screen and another is actually pressed.

Gotta say, love the crisp screen and trackpad. Huge step up from the trackball.
