Default Trackball issue...

Please Login to Remove!

A little background story: I got my Bold about a month ago and all seemed fine, everything worked. Lately I noticed that if I use Pandora or my car charger, my trackball won't let me scroll to the left or up. Finally last night, it wouldn't make the clicking feeling when I scroll, so I dug into it and cleaned it. Now it wont let me scroll left at all, no matter how hard or light I press the trackball. I disassembled it 3 times so far, and every time it seemed to work fine for the first 2 minutes, then it wouldn't let me scroll to the left...I'm still running OS 4.6 because I'm afraid to upgrade to 5.0 cause I've been hearing a lot of issues with voice jitters and such. I've done tons of battery pulls to no avail... And no warranty, I bought it off eBay... I do have a new trackball on the way, I'm REALLY hoping that's the problem, and it's not a software related issue...

Wirelessly posted (8520 (5.0.0.411))

I would try your new trackball first, and see if that fixes it. As far as OS 5.0 goes the voice jitters etc are not a widely encountered problem. You could always download 4.6 to your device, wipe with Jl_cmdr and reload 4.6 to your device first.

I guess I'm gonna have to wait till my new trackball comes in, I just got to work around not being able to scroll left for a week or two... Thanks!

Side note, how long does True supplier take to ship to the US?

Default Stuck Trackball

I am new to this forum, but seems like a great place for ideas and solutions to problems.

I have a BlackBerry Bold 9000 and the Trackball is stuck. Moves left, right and up, but not down. I have cleaned the trackball without disassembling, but can't get the ball to move down. Ordered a new trackball assembly, but the supplier said installation instructions are not included

Two questions:
1. How do you install a new trackball assembly?
2. Since all menu items cannot be accessed because the trackball won't move down, in the interim period before I install the new trackball assembly, are there any shortcuts to access menu items? At least then some of the features will be usable even without the trackball.

Thank very much for your help.

Here are some videos that should help you on how to replace the trackball.

I hope it helps.

Thanks very much for sendling me the links.

The videos are great, but it does seem to me that the process of disassembly and re-assembly are somewhat dicey. My handset is still under warranty (I hope, since it's less than a year since I purchased it), so I think it may be wiser for me to just send it back to the manufacturer to fix the problem.

Thanks again for your reply and the links.

Default Damaged ...

Yea, I've alcohol-ed mine back and forth until the cows came home.
Worked for a while, then ....
Get a No. 8 Torx driver, take it apart like the INternet says to do, and rest easy.

I just got a new phone from AT&T about 3 weeks after I posted here, called them up and they warrentee'd it. Working fine so far!

The track ball I got from T.S... that was a cluster f**k... if I scrolled down, the cursor moved down, if I scrolled up, it went down...
