Default How to make ringtone ring on phone when handsfree is plugged in?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey , new member. I just got a blackberry bold and I was wondering if there was a way to have the phone's ringtone play when the handsfree headset is pluged in? At the moment when the phones rings it goes through the headset, so obviously I can't hear it. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, no one knows how to have the ring go through the phone when the hands free headphones are plugged into the 3.5 mini jacks????

When you plug in a headset to the jack or use a Bluetooth headset the design is to ring thru the attached device. Also why do you have a headset plugged in and not have it on?

You cannot do what your trying to do. No cell phone will

B/c I can't be meeting with people and have a set of headphones stuck in my ears, it is rude.

As for not being able to do it, the phone was ringing with the headset plugged into the jack for about a year before I had to change a battery and It did it right from the start so I thought that it was normal function. After changing the battery, something has happened and now it rings through the headset. So I know it can do it.

Nothing I can find will allow this to work. Do you have any Apps that may have allowed this? Maybe one was upgraded and lost the feature. Rim does not seem to support the duel operation.

I have no idea. The only thing I downloaded was the "Buzzme" app for the duel vibration and ringtone function. Maybe that was it, I will check and see if that is still working.

Still trying to find out how to do it. I turned the buzzme app on off and it has no effect.

Wirelessly posted (Bold 9000)

You sure about that? I use my bold as my MP3 player and when I receive a call, the phone itself rings...doesn't go through the headphones.
I usually miss the call because I can't hear it over the music.

The same with mine. When I'm using my headset listening to the mp3 player, the phone itself rings. But I just set it to vibrate so I don't miss calls.

I dont think the media player is stopping the phone from ringing but as I said I cannot find anything from RIM that indicates this will work via a normal BT headset and a call.
Maybe someone can respond with an APP that will do this.

Well and update, I have been able to get it to ring through the phone and not the headset again.

How did I do it you ask, I have no idea. Yesterday the phones battery died on me again and when I charged the phone up and turned it on this morning the first call went through my phone and not the headset. Funny thing is, this is how it first stopped working, b/c the battery went dead...

I would really like to know how this is done now, for future situations.

Probly just a software glitch that required a restart, which your dead battery provided... ^_^
