Question Blackberry and .Mac

Please Login to Remove!

Does .Mac IMAP e-mail work with BIS?

I am thinking about getting 8830 w/ Verizon. (Or should I wait to see if we get Curve for Verizon? I suppose that's wishful thinking on my part.)

Thanks for your input in advance

wait or switch. I ended up with AT&T, not the greatest, but Tmo's service is terrible in my area.

I would imagine .Mac would work as you can get it via IMAP. I haven't tested it though.

I just used BIS .. I entered my email address and then password, it automatically set it up for me. Very simple and it works fantastic. .mac mail works better on my blackberry than Gmail with IMAP ...

If I understand correctly, BIS polls the account every 15 minutes, correct?

Also, if I send an e-mail from Blackberry using .mac e-mail address, I don't think it gets reconciled into Mail application on my Powerbook.

Anybody have any idea?

Once you have set up your .mac account in Set up Internet E-mail, it will reconcile with your .mac mail account. You will see a message sent from the blackberry as a sent message, etc. when you use Mail on your mac computer. It works pretty seamlessly for mail, as far as I can tell, just like if you use with yahoo mail account.

Default More information working with .Mac

I have a .mac email account and a BB 8830 WE. I can get my .mac mail to the BB using the BlackBerry setup that you have to do through the BB web browser after setting up a blackberry.com account. However, it appears to be only POP3 download to my BB from my .mac mail. How can you get it to work with IMAP access or so it can reconcile? I'd like to be able to delete a .mac mail message from my BB and also have it delete on my .mac account and vice versa. It does this nicely with my work account that I also have setup on my BB that is going through our corporate BES.

Thanks

Two-way message reconciliation is a feature of BES. It's also been recently implemented with Yahoo mail and GMail through a specialized integration with those mail services.
I do not think you'll be able to get two way message reconciliation with your .mac email acoxxxx, even if you set it up as IMAP.

BlackBerry/BIS does not often handle IMAP the way a "normal" IMAP client would.

Ok. Thanks. I guess I misunderstood the previous reply by 'maquique' that it would reconcile with the .mac account.

I've seen more negatives about the Gmail application than positives? Anyone know how well it works on the Blackberry 8830? If so then I could forward my .mac mail to my Gmail account and use the app.

Thanks

Personally, I don't like the GMail application although I hear it has improved a lot starting with version 2.x

I much prefer using BIS to integrate my GMail account with my device.
The GMail app seems entirely unnecessary for me.

penguin3107,

Is there a way (if not using the Gmail app) to separate it from my Exchange email that is pushed via the BES? Currently, my .mac mail (BIS) and my Exchange email (BES) all go to the same inbox on the Blackberry.

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (Breaking Ball: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Maybe. Search this forum or Google for Empower BES Mailbox.
