Default Updated modem scripts for OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Please Login to Remove!

I've updated the modem scripts for the 8100, 8700 and 8800 to work with the latest release of OS X. You can grab the new scripts (one package for all phones! Yay!) and read the new install instructions over here:

Updated Modem Scripts for OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - Fibble.org

As always, let me know if you run into problems and I'll help if I can.

Wow that was fast! Many thanks for the repackaging I'm having trouble getting the setup to work though.

A few things are different: There is no "use higher speed, direct connection available to choose in .5, only "use this device to connect to the internet. This keeps me from inputting the GPRS CSID. Also, the process seems to want to work, as the computer/bb will dial, authenticate and then disconnect. The error message displayed is "could not establish a session with the remote ppp server."

Any ideas?

You shouldn't have to input the CID - the script handles CID selection for you. All you should have to specify are the APN (which goes in the Phone Number field), username and password.

If you open the Bluetooth connection in Network Preferences, your should be able to enter those values. You can also check you have the right modem script installed by clicking the Advanced... button and looking at the Modem tab of the advanced preferences.

Hope that helps!

Wow, this is great news -- or so I hoped/thought. I can connect however I have not been able to open a website or access email. It says I am connected, but it isn't acting like it is. Do I need to do anything with my Curve? Turn off WIFI? Disable my BT Headset? Sorry if these are silly questions.

Update: I can no longer make a connection. I keep waiting at the "Connecting" stage, and then get a failed to connect to remote PPP server (or thereabouts) error message. This is so incredibly frustrating!!!

I believe the Curve suffers from the same problem as most handsets running the latest version of OS 4.2 - the bluetooth stack becomes confused as to the state of the modem connection when you try to disconnect. The practical upshot is you need to pull the battery (hard reset the phone) to get bluetooth tethering back. I've seen the same problem with the Pearl when running T-Mobile's latest release of OS 4.2.

So, try pulling the battery to see if you regain the ability to connect.

So far not many people are having success with TMO's Curve and the new OS, I am wondering if the latest OS release fixes this problem. I am unable to change my OS now that I have a Mac but I am hoping someone posts a stable connection with the release.

Default 8820?

This script worked GREAT for me with my 8800. I "upgraded" to an 8820 recently, and haven't gotten tethering to work. I'd think things would not change 8800-->8820, buuuut.. <sigh> anyone else attempting tethering with 10.5 and an 8820?

Default working on 8700?

Since this script claimed to work for 8700 on Leopard have _any_ gotten the 8700 to work on Leopard? So far I have tried and failed. I would love to hear how to get it working on the 8700 if someone know some quirks that I don't.

thanks,
-bn

If you post more details about the problem you're having, including your model of 8700 and your carrier, I'd be happy to try and help.

Anyone had any joy with the 8300?
With o2 in the UK here, and no luck... (works fine on Tiger, 10.4)...

Do you have a tethering plan with AT&T? I'm not an AT&T subscriber, but it wouldn't surprise me if one was required. Also, what firmware revision do you have installed on your Pearl?

Default Blackberry 8820 tether

I have an 8820 with AT&T. i have a tethering plan and i have been having the same problems. i have the new script for Leopard(which i think is for all BB models in the same script, right?). i get connected and it claims data is being transmitted, but i cannot load a page. after a few minutes, it disconnects then i have to pull the battery to connect again. has ANYONE figured out how to make this work? im tired of paying for a tether plan with at&t and not being able to tether.
