Will the advent of the Pearl and it`s implied prosumer features mean that Blackberry will finally be offering out of the box Mac desktop compatibility?

Device release has nothing to do with desktop software. At this stage RIM is dragging their heals on the PocketMac development. I wouldn't get my hopes up. I hate to say it but the Mac is still a minority to RIM and probably low on the priority chart.

It would be smart if they're really going after the Prosumer. Mac's still aren't as commonly used as PC's, but I'm sure there's enough of a user base to work something out.
