Default Switching Sim card from Blackberry to iphone?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey There guys, I'm a newbie so forgive me if this is already discussed and what not!

I'm live in Canada, I've got a BB Bold 9000 (locked, legit) all fine and dandy on a Rogers data plan, I love my 9000 but I love the games and social networking and all the quirkiness of the iphone... Just picked up a iphone 3G 8GB version... and was wondering if I could use my SIM card to operate both phones to satisfy both desires...(phone, internet browsing, text messages, etc etc) If this is possible please let me know! I've heard you may have to change the APN by unlocking the iphone so it can utilize the BB data plan... Any help is appreciated, thanks a tonne!

Cheers

Different carriers have different rules for provisioning multiple devices and their requirements on an account.

I know for a fact that you can use an iPhone provisioned SIM in another device, but NOT a SIM provisioned in a different device in and iPhone. Sounds strange, but it has something to do with the Apple wonkiness.

I always thought a BB provisioned sim would work in an iPhone (as long as the iPhone is unlocked.)

No BB email because there is no BB PIN. if you set the wap settings you should get carrier data, though. You should be able to then set up email in the iPhone and it will poll as the iPhone does...I think. ;)

on att the bb data plan sim will not work in an iphone, an iphone sim with an iphone plan will work in a bb to get basic internet. this is for data the voice part i think works. never tested that i know the iphone has its own protocol.

When you say it won't work, is that on an unlocked iPhone or a locked iPhone?

its a non jail broken iphone, it will pick up the network, att / 3g, it should make a call, it will not pass data using a sim card that has a blackberry plan. if i were to put an iphone plan on the sim, i could use some basic features apn on the blackberry but no bis/bbm ....

That's what I thought. If the iPhone is unlocked then the basic carrier data will work if the apn is entered correctly.

i dont think you need to jailbreak an iphone to upload a carrier file, they could of change it, you used to be able to send a carrier file to teether the phone with out jailbreaking.

but a non jb or tweak iphone wont work with a bb plan sim for data! :P
