Default Curve as an MP3 player

Please Login to Remove!

I use my Curve 8320 primarily as an MP3 player. The phone is secondary, no use for calendar, etc (it was a spare phone). Has anyone found an MP3-centric them, with the player as the "front page", showing album cover, etc, with subtle links to a "secondary page" that had all the traditional BB apps?

Wirelessly posted

Not quite clear on what you're asking. Are you talking about an mp3 program for the Curve that needs those criteria you mentioned?

I think he means he wants a BB theme that will show song info on the homepage.

I haven't seen theme like that, you could always just hide all of the icons you don't use.

Maybe more clarity is in order. The Curve is a PDA/phone with an MP3 player. I want to convert it to an MP3 player with a phone. Example... the "home screen" should allow me to navigate my music (by genre, group, playlist, etc). When playing, the album should fill the screen (or go dark after x seconds). Access to the phone, calendar, etc should be by secondary means (discrete icons at the top or something). This would be beat the pants out of my Zune (note that Microsoft is doing this the opposite way by adding a phone to a new Zune model).

The Curve is actually a very good MP3 player, especially with Bluetooth, but album navigation is not clean.

Thoughts?

Thanks for the clarification. The best I can come up with is 3rd party music playing apps, but off hand I dont know of any that can do that. I think because a BB is a phone first and a mp3 player second, that's how and why it was designed the way it is. Whereas the Zune is a music player first and now they're adding the phone function to it.

I must say the one thing I'd like to see on the CUrve is being to change tracks when playing music in standby mode. The only thing you can adjust is volume. I understand other BB devices can do this or maybe it's a feature on the newer OS (still running 4.2.xx).

Not true

while in standby you can press and HOLD the volume UP button to move to the next song... and of course press and HOLD the volume DOWN button to go to the previous or to the beginning of the current song.

When you use this feature for the volume UP side you will hear the volume begin to raise but then once the track changes the volume returns to the setting it was at before you pressed it at all....

I think it's true if you have OS 4.5, but not the older one I'm running.

You could always try requesting a theme that does what you want. If it is infact possible, an experienced theme builder would know how. There is a request section for themes at pimpmyberry.com
Not to sure if there is one here too
