Unhappy Error in OS

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Everyone,

I am from Singapore and I just got my BlackBerry 8800 2 days ago. I found tat whenever I create a Group in the Address Book call Group Family, an error "Uncaught exception: java.lang.ClassCastException" will pop out whenever I press keypad 6/F.

Dunno why is this happening? Does this happen to the rest of you with 8800 too? Should I get this replace?

Can't seems to find much help from the local forum about BlackBerry. Hope you guys can help me.

Welcome to the forums,
I've had this similar issue with my Pearl running 4.2.1 OS. I believe it's a known issue (at least on these forums.) Hopefully RIM will address it soon. I deleted all my groups because of this.

On the 8800 you can probably get rid of it if you disable "dial from home screen." I can't remember just where that option is off hand (I don't have an 8700/8800)...either Phone Options, or Screen/Keyboard options.

Hi FynxSyndct, this is what I did. I created "Group Family" and then just added one number which is "Wife" into it.
Then go back to the home screen and press "6". The error will appear...
The java error sometimes won't appear immediately after creating the group. It is sort of intermittent.

Nobody encounter this problem I had? I think the only way to solve is to disable the Dial from Home Screen as wat JC has suggested. But I like the function of the Dial from Home Screen too. Must I compromise for one of them?

I'm having the same problem on the 8800... I have disabled "dial from home screen" and I get the same java error when dialing any phone numbers that start with 9
