Default Is it possible to setup POP3 mail collection?

Please Login to Remove!

On the Blackberry, the Setup wizard only provides the option to connect to a BES, however the device is for personal not enterprise use.

After visiting the carrier here in Thailand (AIS), I can now connect to their online mail setup, but the only options seem to be to create an IMAP connection.

This is not what is wanted, as the user wants to create mail connections on the Blackberry using POP3 collection and SMTP delivery as required rather than having to logon to the AIS portal to do so.

Is there any way to enable BIS in the setup wizard and to configure POP3.

This is driving us nuts after two days of problems speaking with Thais that don't seem to understand what is being asked. ("No cannot do" is the only answer received. If this is indeed the case, "Why?")

Was this a new BB or did you purchase it used? If used, there could be an IT Policy in place.

Or in the initial set up, did you perhaps select the wrong option?

Yeah I would agree with "Dubdub".. there could be an IT policy still active on the device. Also if it is a used BB, it will be worth an effort to ensure the PIN is released from the previous vendor.

The device is new, BUT it is branded Vodafone and was unlocked by the supplier in Pattaya.

I have now managed to work out how to configure POP3 through the carrier BIS portal though.

By not entering a password in the Set Up Account, you can manually define the server settings.

I think, you need to add pop mail accounts on the original provider that you are currently having BIS service with in order to get push mails. AIS would only allow you to add pop mail if you open a BB service with AIS. That's my understanding. I'm using AIS too.

Also, if you just enter the email address and the password it does the setup via pop.
