Only my second post and its yet another issue. I did a little homework before I posted to see if the problem could be fixed and nada so here goes...

I stepped out of the train station (where there is no service) and walked a bit only to get a message stating as follows

"You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication. As a result, the browser cannot retrieve any web pages."

I tried the Battery pull twice to no avail and looked up a thread here with the steps of Options>Advanced Options>Host Routing Table>Register Now and I got

"Registration message queued. It will be sent once data coverage is available"

No change and still somber..Can someone give me an idea of what's going on?

(My Carrier is Sprint and he phones a Curve 8530.)

Sounds like Sprint has crappy coverage in your location.
Probably not much you can do about this.

Yes, this sounds like a network issue and not a device issue.

Agree on the coverage issue. Does it always happen at that spot? Did you eventually get a signal? Check the coverage maps?

My wife's phone (Curve) are experiencing the same problem, it is NOT your area. I noticed the network has changed from GPRS to GSM, which I know are not able to receive data. I have a 9800 and it works fine in our area, while sitting right next to my wife while she are experiencing the problem. We have phoned our mobile service provider, and went through all the drills like "removing the battery, turning the wireless and the network off and then on, going onto a different network and then back, fiddling with the hosting table, etc". And YES she has a data plan. In fact her phone was working perfectly for 4 days since she got it, and now we are stranded paying for something we dont have.

I seriously think Blackberry is overrated and have a LOT more flaws than most phones on the market. We are just to ignorant to admit it. I'm really starting to feel like we have wasted our money. Searching the net, I discovered that this has been an ongoing problem for YEARS and no-one has come with a proper solution yet.

Hackajack, you cannot compare your experience with that of SecretSix. His issue does seem to be coverage and has we constantly suggest to people here on the Forum coverage is different from carrier to carrier and from area to area.
The curve is a 2G phone and the 9700 is duel 2g and 3g. If your phone works and hers doesnxxx8217;t then it may simply be the curve. Try a OS upgrade on the curve it may help.
