Now my q10 is another story,,,I purchased TinyCamPro app and I can see the camera ONLY when on wifi...they said I have to go to router settings and port forward...I tried it 5 times, no good....what amI doing wrong ??
Amcrest said they dot have an app for BB but TinyPro said their app WILL work.
Im not sure whenim in "port forward" the server address they are asking for, is it my camera IP ? Ive tried everything

If someone can help I would appreciate it, Amcrest told me to dump the BB and get an IPhone....wth

the information on the TinyCam site does give the details on setting up a router forwarding.
The basic issue is the cam is unable to send to anyone outside the router. your viewing the cam within the private wifi network. to go out you need to configure the phone and router with the port the cam is using. The manual shows 8083 but you may need a different number.

I use a cam at home and access it via the home router.

example
home router ip 123.44.12.1
home router wifi ip 192.168.1.10
ip address of configured cam 192.168.1.99
router port configured to pass to cam 8099

Generally the router will also need to forwarding information to be loaded .
example. Port 8099 ip address is 192.168.1.99

when a remote access is needed. the remote user enters ip 123.44.12.1/8099

the remote user then is passed to the cam via the proper address.

this is the manual link

Manual | tinyCam Monitor

Amcrest may not want any competition so they try to push to their product to the easiest IOS phone..

a secret they don't tell you is the home cam can be accessed via any browser including the one on the cell phone by simply using http://123.44.12.1/8099

the browser will then simply connect to that address.

hope this helps.

You need to know the IP address of your network where the camera is installed. Not the sub IP address, the main address for the router on the network side. the home side is usually just IP addresses that are non network numbers such as the ones I show above. You need to log into the router and get the network address.

the router address example

Broadband IPv4 Address 33.123.155.125
Gateway IPv4 Address 33.123.155.1

Home address example on the router

Device IPv4 Address 192.168.1.254
DHCPv4 Netmask 255.255.255.0
DHCPv4 Start Address 192.168.1.64
DHCPv4 End Address 192.168.1.253

Your cams are on one of the home addresses like 192.168.1.99

to get to the cam from outside you need to assign a port to the cam on the router
this may be on the firewall configuration. There you assign a pass thru ip address with the port number

Service name Ports Device

Camera1 TCP/UDP: 8618 ip camera

You cannot configure the access from the cell phone. You need to configure the router.

You need to give more info on the type of router your using home and then more help can be offered.

Man im lost, ive tried every ip address, some when I put them in are NOT allowed, says needs to be LAN...I can access the router from my laptop on wifi, its a NetGear WGR614 router.

My wifes IPhone was soooo eay must be because Amcrest has an app for the iPhone so must be the app does all this because hers works anywherewe are...
Thank you so much for the help, I think the 2 ports need to be 80 and 554, but the server ip is what the issue is I THINK ????

Something is wrong or im just stupid

This is the link for the manual for your router.
It details how to access the router and how to configure outside access to a device on your network. in your case the camera.

port 80 is for web use and port 554 is not useable. I suggest using port 8000 or higher to 8300

You need to configure the router as I gave above. Chapter 6 gives the info on how. its called port forwarding to local servers( your camera)
Chapter 2 gives info on how to log into the router. You need to know the password.
it is not your internet login info. the password is usually located on the router label. once your in, the various IP addresses you need can be seen on the router.
One issue is if you don't have access to the router because your ISP locked you out but generally not.

This is the link for the manual.

The Amcrest info looks like it configures the I-phone browser when you connect via wifi. It must do some fancy configuration. here is the link for the cameras and it does show information on configuring the router port forwarding needed to see the cam

I read that manual and followed everything, again that video I posted says use the camera IP as the server ip in the router settings, but he said when you go to canyouseeme the ip it shows should be the same as the ip shown in "router status" and it isn't....

Im getting ready to smash this ph

This is the flow

internet---service IP to router---home Ip service
internet-------112.23.12.33--router--192.168.1.254 or other IP used

the IPhone app knows the internet side of the router and the Cam ip so it can get to the cam from anywhere.
it is using the port forwarding the router offers.

you need to log onto the router to check the IP addresses it is using on the internet side and see if you can find the camera's ip and port it is using.

the cam will be something like this 192.168.1.99:8000

try looking at the I-phone app and see if it will show the numbers it is using.

if you do find the numbers then use a browser to see the cam

example

http://112.23.12.33:8000

you generally do not need a special app to see cameras unless the cam manufacturer has some type of lock on it or you need a password to see the view.

this may help

Oh and another thing. YOUR NOT AN IDIOT!!!
A lot of people have problems getting cams to work. they seem simple and inside the home they are easy but do give problems with remote viewing.

Remember the IP used in home is not the one used when not at home.
you need the IP of the router and the Port number being used by the cam when outside.

Have you tried to see what the I-Phone is using when not at home. It has to be an
IP and port to get to the cam. Regardless of the app used on the cell phone it has to use an IP and port to reach the cam and not the internal home IP addresses.

this may help,
go to this site and it will give you the IP address your router is using on the internet side.

https://www.whatismyip.com/

once you know the external IP address and you know the port number the cam is using ( as shown in the Amcrest configuration )
try using your call phone browser to see if it is accessible http://123.123.12.12:8000 ( example )
your IP will be in place of the 123.123.12.12 the port will be what you see in the configuration.

you can also find the port by logging on to the home router and see what port the cam is using or assigned to.

Port 80 is the standard browser port. the cam must be on a higher number. even the documentation for the cam suggests over 6000 or 8000 .
when you run the whatsmyip and it gives you a number that's just the internet side of the router. You now need the port assigned to the cam. If its not shown on the cam app then you need to look in the router for the assigned port. it is possible the router does not have the port and it is only shown on the cam app.

ok here is what I could find on the camera app on my laptop when sigining in on wifi.
I can see the ip address which is different than the camera ip address
2) subnet mask
3) default gateway which is my routers ip
and "enable arp/ping to set ip address service is checked
4)TCP port number #####8888
5)UDP port number ######888
6)Http port number is 80
7)Rstp port *****7677
8)https port ****89787

so what id like to o is port forward and enter the correct info on my router for ip and which port number then see if it works on my TinyCam app with my blackberry...
Thx again for the help
