You can probably copy the java and UMTS folders from the new build over the top of a 9500 build. It will update the OS apps but not the radio.

No, it's not. I wouldn't.

Just it 24 hours and it will likely appear "out there" or wherever.

I wouldn't copy the files. The devices have very different internals in them.

The only thing i've noticed so far on the .83 is that the nifty feature of gliding your finger against icons to see it trailing after your finger isn't happening whatsoever when you have your 16 icons set up in the vertical position

No improvements????

I am mainly looking for these

1. Speed to be faster. especially the transition effects
2. Better/faster response from the device
3. Device should not rotate when kept on a table or very slightly tilted
4. faster media browser. It gets slow sometimes
5. better dialer. It has a lot of bugs

I had a MAJOR issue on mine. The light would not turn off when locked. It just sat dim. I tried to put it in bedside mode, but it just sat there with the message stating it was going into bedside mode. This locked up the screen so I couldn't do anything (orientation worked fine, though, oddly enough). I then powered it off (end button), but I was presented with the message stating it was turning off - nothing happening. I removed the battery to reset it and the light will now turn off. Nevertheless, this is a clean device and installation.

I had a glitch upon reboot. A message stating the media card was installed (yes), and it stuck , would not escape nor go away. A battery pull reboot later, on the homescreen a large VZW logo appear, total black background. Like Jibi, this would rotate from portrait to landscape mode, but not go away. No escape would work. I tried turning it off, and the "powering down, press any key to escape" message appeared, but it never powered down. Another battery pull reboot and I am back up good--for now.

likely the vendor file is blank if it is a beta OS. But it takes all of 10 seconds, so...

Yes you do, forgot to do it and didn't recognize it, changed vendor file to old like I always do and no problem.

Thanks folks; wasn't sure if this was a VZW version, and whether deleting the vendor.xml file would mess the install up.

Default Camera view?

I have noticed that it appears my camera has a grey dot almost dead in the middle. It is in Camera and Video Recorder apps, and it shows up in the photos being taken. I have looked at photos from .75 and don't see it, lens appears to be clean and no scratches. Can anyone verify, do they see a grey circle in almost the dead center on the screen. Easiest way to see it is look at a blank white sheet of paper.

It may be Verizon branded, but the Vendor file isn't complete. I have a Verizon Storm and until changing the Vendor.xml file it wouldn't see the newer OS.

The DM will see whatever OS it is regardless. The Vendor Xml file doesn't prohibit the DM from seeing the new OS. It will only prohibit you from upgrading if it's not from your carrier and not deleted.
