Go to Options/Advanced Options/Applications.

Touch (but don't click) WeatherBug.

Hit Menu key and choose "Disable Compatibility Mode".

WeatherBug requires BlackBerry Maps. Make sure you have that installed.

I downloaded the new version, and got rid of it immediately and restored my previous saved version. I don't want any of that Ad crap.

I was going to try and install this app, but after reading this thread I am going to pass. Sounds like it is waaay more work than anything else. Viigo gives me weather just fine anyhow.

i realize i'm beating a dead thread back to life here, but question:

how does this software behave on the storm when you exit out ? the icon is still showing temps, but the app is not running in the background. is the temp still accurate and being updated ? i don't see any channels set up when i look in my bookmarks, so i would assume not.

i'm not sure i want to keep the app running in the background for the purpose of conserving battery....

any thoughts/comments on this ?

I have had it on my device for about a month. I set the update interval for 30 mins. I do NOT have 'my location' (GPS) turned on... it's pointless. I really haven't noticed any real degradation in battery usage. For me a standard day of battery usage means pulling it off the (overnight) charger at 445a and not having to worry about charging it until 5-530p when my battery is down to about 10-15%. I send/receive about 50-75 emails a day, send/receive 10-20 texts and make/receive only a minimum amount (maybe 10?) of phone calls each day. I have running 'in the background':
Weatherbug(even after i exit out... the update interval runs), YouMail Visual, quicktext, talklock, ubertwitter... and the usual suspects that are always open in the background. (messages, bbm, phone, browser).
I had used BBweather but prefer the weather bug graphics.

As always... YMMV.

i think with the amount of apps and usage your phone sees, extra power drain from weatherbug would probably be unnoticeable....especially since you charge it every day....

either way, i was looking for a more lightweight app, or just a channel that gives the info on the home screen. i have plenty of MB's free, so space is not an issue, also i don't usually charge my phone every day since it doesn't see enormous activity daily. but i like headroom for future apps/activity and weatherbug is sucking resources from the battery looking for gps and data input. i like to keep the gps on because i have a tracker software installed on my phone in case of theft or lost....

Anyone know why the weather alerts for WB are no longer available in the profiles? I had the previous Bold version and it alerted when a weather alert was in effect.

I gave this another try, as I always liked weatherbug. And for a while it seemed to work great. I had it displaying on my home screen right next to Berry Weather. And all was working well. That is until weatherbug displayed the sun shining at mid night (WTF??) For now I will stick with Berry Weather, but I hope they get this working as I always liked it.
