When you connect the USB to your device, does the PC see it? You may need to reload the USB driver for the BB.

Which BB?? Sometimes the 5790's have trouble connecting properly if the handheld software is not installed.

BB7290 originally an ATT device unlocked by adam and now running on tmobiles network

the pc sees the usb connection and it knows its connected. the blackberry has the 2 pcs on the screen like its syncing but nothing happens. The desktop manager software in the system tray has a blinking screen like data is being transfered but even after 30mins nothing happens.

I know it works because before it was unlocked i was syncing it to my calendar and using it as a straight pda. Now it no longer works.

Things I've done:
-disabled wireless updates on my calendar. i only need to connect it to update my calendar otherwise i wouldn't even try to connect it.
-reinstalled desktop manager.

It is still not working. I ran into this issue last night on my home computer and it went away; not sure how.

IF you have everything in Outlook ( calendar appts, contacts, etc) and don't mind if you lose the email on the device I would attempt application loader. Sometimes that forces it through for whatever reason.

What version of the desktop manager? Maybe you should reinstall that....what about versions of palm software on the PC? The use the same syncing portion and can cause problems.

Also try disabling your security time out (password) on the device before you connect it

I got it to work finally; not sure what actually made it work but I took the battery out of the bb, uninstalled desktop manager, restarted my pc, reinstalled desktop manager, started up bb and then it synced..

Sometimes it's the 'crazy' stuff you try that gets it to work. Glad you are up and running.

For some reason, this happens to me on occasions too on with my Windows OS. I remove the battery, put it back on and all is fine again.

It makes me wonder if this is a BB/Windows issue, because it has never happened with my Mac. Just a thought...

For the future if this happens again, there are two things to make it work. One is to keep the handheld plugged into the USB, pull the battery and put it back in.
Two this maybe another characteristic of the "protocl error data transfer aborted" issue introduced after xp sp2 (and i believe installing handheld code after)and running a repair will resolve this.
