I have found the bold is very suseptable to moisture intrusion.
I had a problem with display going blank and keyboard not working but still had full service indicator..
sent to blackberry via telstra for service.
simply had phone on charge over night in very rainy night.
turned phone on and display would flicker and go grey.
Got it back , without repair as they claim moisture intrusion.
Phone will not regonise sim card.
simply says no sim card.
How can I get it to recognise the sim card.
I believe telstra repair agent may have put in a bug to reder it useless.
any one had this experience.?

Moved tot he 9000 section.

All BBs (and all electronic devices for that matter) do not like wet at all. If you didn't dry it out properly before using after it got wet, most likely it is dome for. As for getting your data, if its a dead device, not much you can do either. Do you have a back up of the data?

And I highly doubt that your carrier or their repair shop would make it so it is useless. A shameful accusation on your part, IMHO.

I have worked with electronics and understand what water can do to components.
You are very neive if you dont think repairers have there little tricks to force you to buy new.
These components are soldered to the contacts on the board and very rarely do they fall of on their own accord. unless quality controll is low.
