Default Dropped my BB - now only flashing codes

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum so first I'd like to say 'Hello everybody, here I am'.

Now my problem: I accidentally dropped my BB 8100 Pearl. Afterwards, it gave me flashing codes, sometimes it would start the OS properly but then give me the flashing code again - the code is: flash-flash-flash-pause-flash-flash.

I understand the code means something like the BB cannot get beyond the bootloader and access the OS. I once managed to connect the BB to my computer and tried to upload the OS again. I had the OS erased properly but then the connection got disrupted (dunno why) and now I only get flashing codes. I _sometimes_ get the LED to light up a few seconds but I still cannot connect to my computer to upload software to the BB. When the LED goes out again, I get a different code: flash-flash-pause-flash-flash-flash.

Does that mean my BB is physically damaged? Can I do anything about it? I am pretty good at soldering (fine-pitch and BGAs included) and have access to the proper tools required.

[edit]Is there a way I can recover the data stored on the BB? I have some pictures that I'd really like to save...[/edit]

Thanks for any help!!!

Wirelessly posted (8820)

If you have a memory card in the BB, remove it. Make sure SIM is seated properly. Try again. That's all I know to try. You could try wiping and reloading the OS, but I'm doubtful. Maybe someone will come along with better ideas. Hate to say it, but I think you BB may have gone to the grave. Sorry.

Thanks for your answer!!! My hope for saving this BB is also fading but I'm not giving up yet! I have removed the Memory Card alright and all data on it is fine. Someone please hit me because I did not move all the files from my BB onto the Memory card when the BB was still running fine.

I have already tried to wipe it (using RIM software) but as I said, when the point came to reinstall the OS, it failed. It seems like there is some hardware damage in the application memory... I'm trying to give this unit a thermal treatment now, ie making it warm or cold.

I haven't tried JL Cmder yet because there is some precious files on it I really would like to recover...

Don't worry, I learned that lesson. Still, I must now try to recover the data lost... Any suggestions? I suppose RIM could do it?

Now that's interesting... I've had my BB on the heater for a while now and now I can connect!! I'm trying to upload the OS now... At least this shows us that heat might correct some hardware problems - the question is for how long. To be continued...

Unable to Reconnect During a Multi-Stage Load Operation :(

Alright, put it in the refrigerator now. Maybe a little cold will help, hehe.
