Options>Security>Security Wipe, tick all the applicable boxes and enter blackberry. Press wipe and that's you.

You may wish to back up your data with desktop manager beforehand.

Also ensure you give the phone adequate time to complete the wipe.

To get rid of email accounts, you need to log into your BIS account and remove them, remove the IMEI and PIN and have the carrier cancel it if you do not intend to get another BB.

Accounts aren't stored on the device, they are stored in BIS but messages are. Once you get the new BB, you will need to go into BIS and add the new IMEI and PIN and resend service books.

Just curious, are you getting another 9780? What was the problem with the phone (if there was one)?

too many problems to list....

- battery life sucks...half day tops...even if i barely use it....i charge the thing full, shut off the phone for the night and when i turn it back on in the morning its down to 80%

- keyboard sticks....i cant type one full sentence without it double spacing or double typing a letter

- icons that i move to my "favourites" disappear after i shut the phone off and turn it back on

- turns itself off at random times or in the middle of a call 5-6 times a day

- trackpad scrolls erattically when web browsing

- and many more.....

i love blackberries and i am a blackberry supporter but this phone is a piece of junk....and please note that i am a VERY experienced blackberry user and owner....have had them for years....

no applications are running in the background except the "big 5"....no third party apps or any other apps have i loaded to this phone....i even tried upgrading to the newest software and did not make a difference....

i have gone back to using my 8310 curve simply because it is VERY reliable and does the job....never had a problem with it in 3 years....and i get a good 3 FULL DAYS out of a battery even if i use it alot.....

so i am torn at the decision to try another 9780 or not....honestly im afraid to try another one....thinking about the torch but i fear that might be worse....

might just stick with what has always worked....my dependable 8310....

I understand how you feel. But there is a major difference between the 8310 and the 9780, which if you gave it a chance I don't think you'd want to go back (the old shoe always feels more comfortable doesn't it??). As far as the keyboard, it will take a little adjusting to. I've have the 9700 for quite a while now and still somewhat miss the 8310's keyboard. But I've grown to work with it pretty well.

As far as the rest, sounds like you just had a bad phone there and I'd swap it out for another one. Then use it for a while and give it a real chance. The 9780 is not a piece of junk, I assure you. Along with the 9700, it is quite possibly the best BB made to date.

...and it blows the Curve away. You got a bad phone, or it just needs a reload of the OS. None of the issues you mention are in fact issues on the 9780.

when you say ""re-load" what exactly do you mean?

When I have issues with the device - as you seem to be having, I use JL commander or Javawipe to wipe the device to a point where it no longer boots. I reload the OS at that point and only do a selective restore of the data. That usually solves the problem...like formatting a computer and reinstalling the OS from scratch. That's my version of a true "reload".

Anyway, hopefully your new device will not have these same issues either -- good luck!
