Samsung WEP-200 problems, anyone (else)?
Please Login to Remove!
I'm having a bear of a time getting an 8100 to play nicely with the (tiny, comfortable) Samsung WEP-200, which was working fine with my prior (non-BB) phone. Other BT headsets work fine with the Pearl, so it seems to be something specific between this headset and this phone.
Anyone else have any experience with a BB (8100 or otherwise) and the WEP-200?
More details: Pairing went off just fine. The BB basically registers correctly when the headset turns on and off, and I can manually force a connection. When I try to force a disconnection from the 8100's BT options, that seems to hang for a couple of minutes. But when I have everything connected and try to place a call, I can't transfer it to the headset for love or money - not by pressing the headset button and not by using the menu option in the phone program.
But the connection is clearly working to SOME extent, because holding down the button on the headset DOES initiate a "redial last number" on the phone, at least most of the time.
Any ideas or relevant experience most welcome! Thanks in advance.
ETA: Sorry - I just now saw someone recently started a little WEP-200 thread - didn't mean to be redundant but I don't know how to fold this one into the prior thread now.

I'm having the same problem with my WEP 200. Did you ever find a solution?
It appears to be pairing, but won't connect. I can only call last number and end call. Can't hear a thing through the headset. It worked fine on a Samsung phone though.

I'm having the same problem. Pairs but cannot hear call. It does recognize an incoming call by beeps but when I hit the button on the WEP200, I hear nothing, I have to continue the call with the 8100 itself.

Hi! Did anyone figure out the solution with the WEP 200 & 8100 Pearl? I'm having the same problems as above. The pairing is fine, but I can't hear anything. I can dial the last call out, but then I can't hear anything so I have to pick up the Pearl. HELP? Is this handset a lost cause for the Pearl?

Hi, any solution to this yet? Did anyone try out if the latest firmware from Cingular for the 8100 fixes the problems with the WEP 200?

I solved the problem myself. The device seems to be some kind of replica. I went to a telephone store and tried one WEP 200 from the shelf - it worked! Gonna have to sent the other one back ...

Samsung WEP-200
I tried it with my 7520 and couldn't get it to pair. Got a refund.

The WEP200 has huge problems with fakes being sold. Some key factors that indicate a fake: - Missing or broken "Factory seal" stickers on the box.
- No hologram sticker on the front of the box or the hologram says "Samsing" instead of "Samsung"
- Model numbers on the back of the box differ from the model numbers on the Samsung web site.
- The charging box says "Bluetooth" on it instead of "Samsung".
- It comes with an ear clip (Samsung ships no ear clip).
- The manual is fairly thin (see pics at link below).
- The box is fairly thick (again, check out the pics).

Yeah, I bought a fake on ebay and this thread helped me realize that. I hear from people how great it is, but then was puzzled when ppl I was conversing with had a hard time hearing me and talk time on the battery seemed to last for an hour at best.
I emailed the seller, hopefully they'll process a return, if not, I get to go through the fun of an ebay/paypal dispute.
Watch out for FAKES!

For the people who have authentic WEP 200's paired with the 8100 Pearl, how well does it work? Can you have your phone in your pocket sans static?
