Default Blackberry mesenger problem

Please Login to Remove!

I've got a Bold that is jerking me around with messenger when it's in 3G.
I can have full bars in 3G but the bb icon wont be beside where it says 3G and my messages just get stuck. When it's like this it just becomes a large clumsy phone. I can talk on it and text but nothing else.
Does anyone else have this problem?
I'm with Rogers and this is the second Bold that I've had since Christmas.

Yep. 49030629 Bytes free.
No other apps will run without the little bb icon between where it says 3G and the signal bars. It's basically just a phone then.

If your phone is showing 3G - without the BB sign beside it -, edge, 3g, GSM, or gprs you won't be able to use BB messenger.
Phone needs to show 3G with BB sign beside it, EDGE, or GPRS to be able to use BB messenger.

I personally haven't had this issue before but I might be able to give you some ideas. Do you use enterprise server? I think Rogers is having problems with certain enterprise BB's lately. Try pulling your battery. It should work when you reboot the device that way, but it might start to have the same issue again in a matter of days..or hours...that has nothing to do with your BB, but it's just Rogers. Until they come up with something, I guess you're stuck......

If you're not using enterprise server.....then I don't know... :S

No, they're not the same thing.
3G (without the BB icon) means that you have a 3G connection to your carrier's network. You'll only get voice and sms service in this mode.

3G with the BB icon means that you're authenticated to RIM's BlackBerry Infrastructure and can use BlackBerry Data Features on the device.

Okay so it's a RIM problem and not a Rogers problem, right?

Not necessarily. Could be either, both, or neither.

You should probably call your carrier first, and if they cannot resolve it, they can escalate it to RIM.
