Default Blackberry not connecting to computer / No vendor.xml file

Please Login to Remove!

I downloaded and installed OS 4.5, and upgraded to the latest DM. Installation went smoothly and the system is stable.

I tried connecting my device (for the memory card), but my computer never recognized it (did absolutely nothing at all).

I then realized even in DM now it's not being recognized... THEN I noticed there is no vendor file on my computer.

What happened? Am I going to have to install all over again?

Did you delete the vendor.xml, because you must in order to install OS 4.5 on your BB.

So why are you surprised?

Yeah deleted the vendor file to trigger the installation. Installation occurred. Shouldn't it have created a new file?

No, you don't need the vendor.xml file on the PC--it has absolutely no purpose at all except to lock an OS load to your BB to only that which is branded to your BB.

It not being there is not causing any issues on your PC.

If your BB is not being recognized by your PC, reboot both the PC and the BB and try again.

Is you USB cable connected direct to the PC, not a hub or monitor port?

Does the charging indicator appear on the BB if you are connected to USB/PC?

Re-installing the OS to your BB won't do anything, as you said it is working fine.

Loading DM again, could, perhaps.
