Default Why? God, Why?

Why is it so damn difficult to simply sync all of your PIM data and email? It is really starting to annoy me. How come there is a Google app that syncs calendar but not contacts. Why Why Why?

Why can't someone just make a solution to the problem?

Current setup. DM to Outlook then Outlook to Yahoo via Yahoo Sync, but forget about using Outlook for Yahoo mail, because it is POP....

I have used my premium MSN account with Outlook for years, and it works great. But there is no PST file for the DM to sync to, so that is out of the question.

Forget about Google.

It is simply mind boggling why there is not some sort of solution that requires minimal manual manipulation if any at all.

Is there an actual question in there somewhere or is this just a rant?

Its pretty much a rant, I am calm now. But seriously, are there restrictions from RIM? Is the process just too involved and too expensive to create something? What is stopping this?

I think everyone is still trying to catch up is all. RIM only recently began marketing their devices to the non-business consumer. With BES, none of what you mentioned is really a problem. All components sync seamlessly and wirelessly.

I think Google has done a pretty decent job thus far of being able to sync your calendar OTA. I hear that contact sync is on the horizon. I think you'll find that with the release of the new models in the near future, demand will go up for these sync services and the big guys (Yahoo, Gmail, Etc.) will continue developing OTA sync solutions.

Hang in there....

Dawg,

I looked into hosted exchange with BES for my email, and correct me if I am wrong, but you need your own domain like [email address]. I was told it cannot work with Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail and the like. If it does, I'll start preparing my arguments for the battle that would surely ensue with my wife.

That I am not aware of did you check with the company or just read the info on their site? I would ask their CS and see.

I used exchangemymail and they do not require that I have my own domain. I also have a vanity email address that I have set to forward all email that comes to that address to my exchangemymail.com email address and it is stored on their exchange servers. Also they will allow me to change the reply to address so that I can keep my vanity email address. So you would no longer need your Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail accounts as you mail would be stored on your hosted exchange provider. *Note* Not all hosted provides allow you to change you reply to address.
