Last I checked RIM still didn't support OWA 2007 via BIS (despite the fact that Exchange 2007 has now been out over a year and was available in beta long before that).

As if I didn't have enough reasons to already dislike RIM, ugh. Anyone have any idea on when this might be supported?

Why would you need OWA access when you can access your mail through BIS Email?

Whether MS will be forthcoming I don't know, considering they have Exchange Activesync to sell. However, one supposes that OWA 2007 supports webdav and at some stage RIM will sort this one out. I imagine they are getting pressure to do something as more E2k7 servers roll out...

Yes, RIM should be able to use webdav as far as I understand it (although obviously not Exchange Activesync ), although individual BIS users will not see any change until RIM update their servers/protocols.

For us bb/bis newbies would you please elaborate on what you meant by "able to use webdav". Thanks.

I actually like the fact that it does not. I have OWA enabled. I would prefer people with personal BB not be able to put corporate mail on their device. I'd love BIS to only support POP and IMAP. That way I can still let users use OWA, but not allow BB retrieval unless on my BES.

You could try blocking access by RIM-owned IP addresses to your OWA server to mitigate this.

Webdav is basically an extension of http to allow various 'useful' things. You can interface with Exchange folders and items through this. When I say 'you' I really mean developers though. I have no personal experience of Exchange 2007, but I understand MS has "de-emphasises" (their word) webdav access for Exchange 2007. So, whilst it's still there, they want developers to use Exchange Web Services instead. This could go some way to explaining the delay in Exchange 2007 support from RIM - maybe they are transitioning to EWS or perhaps something broke with webdav in Exchange 2007.

Warning note: I'm assuming BIS uses webdav. I could be completely wrong as I haven't bothered to investigate. It may be that it uses "screen scraping" but I suppose if it did it would be horrendously inefficient...

I'm systems engineer background. After my recent experiences and frustrations with common use of phrase "IMAP4 protocol" I just wanted to clarify what the term meant in RIM/BB context. Would be way cool if bb's supported webDAV. But even more cool if RIM decided to support iCAL.

Personally, I am not certain. As I said above, I'm just assuming webdav is how BIS interfaces with Exchange/OWA, although I suppose it could be using "screen scraping". iCal support would be cool, although BIS could just as easily use webdav to get at the Exchange calendar items so that BIS users could have a wirelessly reconciled calendar. However, this might eat into the BES market...

More knowledgeable replies are need from others to directly answer your question I think.

I am currently doing work for a large software company based in Redmond, Washington, that runs Exchange 2007. I set up my BB last night to do OWA and it works like a charm. Seems like the problem is fixed.

It works for me. It didn't for a few months when Outlook 2007 first came out, but it has worked perfectly for the past 2 or 3 months or so. Hope this helps

My settings for the school who used OWA were:

1) Go to the AT&T or Tmobile BIS site
2) Click setup account
3) Put in your ... e-mail address and an
incorrect password (this lets you do something in a second)
4) Then it will say the password is wrong or something and you want to
select the "I'll provide the settings to this account"
5) Then select this is a work e-mail address
6) Say "I can access using Outlook Web Access"
7) Outlook web address: https://mail.mccombs.utexas.edu/owa... your's might be https://mail.companyx.com/owa Make sure you use https
8) Username: mccombs\msbbc400 (mccombs is the domain name and then slash is the one above the enter key and msbbc400 is my domain user login name.)
9) your password
10) e-mail address is like this:
11) mailbox name like: msbbc400 (my domain username lohin)

That should be it. The key is to put in the
https://mail.mccombs.utexas.edu/owa, put your username as
domain\username, and your mailbox as your domain username.
