Hey, welcome to the party! And since you're late and the party is already over, you can help clean up.

It's processor-agnostic. I'm using it on a PowerMac Dual G4. Syncing is spiffing, but so far the OS Update feature is not. It's bricked (recoverable - just the 507 error) my Tour, but I will use my last backup on a pc to restore.

Yup, it's just done the same thing to my Bold. Not happy.

I have just spent 36 hours sorting out my Tour. That's 36 hours without my BlackBerry, relying instead on my backup device, a Palm Pre. Maybe it's good from time to time to switch off to another type of phone, just to see how terrific the BlackBerry really is. I have a renewed appreciation for all things "RIM".

Once the Mac Desktop Manager borked my Tour, I had all kinds of problems restoring it to working condition. First, the BlackBerry Manager software on my ThinkPad couldn't find the Tour, so simply restoring was not happening.

Fine - JL_Commander to the rescue, right? Well, that couldn't seem to connect to perform a wipe. I don't know how many DOZEN times I tried it and re-tried it. No soap.

So then I went to the Command Line AppLoader. Even that couldn't keep a connection, and the software update kept failing about 1/2 way through the process. Back to JL_Commander, then back to AppLoader. It got a little farther on my last attempt with AppLoader, so I went back to basics.

I uninstalled Desktop Manager from my ThinkPad, deleted any remnants of handheld OS's, and then downloaded a fresh copy of Desktop Manager 5.0. I also grabbed the original handheld OS (from the links at the top of the 9600-Series forum. On what must have been my 30th attempt, the process went through.

The moral of the story kids is this: Don't Update Your OS Via the Mac Desktop Manager Software!
