Can some elaborate on RIM infrastructure ? what are the components of this infrastructure? how it work?

Pretty much a big hub where everything goes, and get routed appropriately. For more details you will probably have to contact them and they probably won't be to giving of that information.

is there any documentation that goes deeper inside RIM infrastructure?

It's a fairly secure environment. I doubt very much that there is anything that goes deeper. They like it that way.

i know that it is a big company, and you can see that by the number of pins it can provide, and I'm sure that all pins are regesterd with them all around the world

Given that a PIN is an 8 character Hex there's 4,294,967,296 possible PINs. Just a few.

There were some in that video. There are lots in the RIM sales material on line. Depends on what you're looking for.

Most RIM employees don't get to see the BB Infrastructure. But it's basically a room with lots of oracle servers that act as giant phone directory. All the BlackBerry Servers connect using the SRP and auth key to the BB Infrastructure

(Last time i checked the North America and Asian Relay where in Canada and the UK/EU Relay was in UK just down the road from Heathrow)

Whats to elaborate on thought it's a place with servers and as has been proved in more than one occasion not very much redundancy.

There are many diagrams on how the infrastructure works and how messages get transmitted and what happens. I can elaborate if you want to know how the messages get from one place to another and what the actual process is

Thanks bbpremire, can you eloborate what are the server roles in this infrastucture, we all know how the message is routed from the big picture but what is happening in this infrastructure we dont know.

Well they are suppose to be building a new Data Center in Georgia, that should increase redundancy.

(Plus they will be hiring 200+ people maybe someone could get in there and tell hows it done )

there is no more information. As RIM employees that's pretty much all the info that is given out. There are lot's database servers and a few third party applications that sit on top to allow RIM to manage all the device provisioning and server connections.

I doubt there is anyone that works on the infratructure itself that would risk their job because a few of us are curious about how it works

I also heard that one will be built in Slough, UK. I also heard one was being built in France

It makes sense one would be built somewhere in the Continental USA as presidential email gets routed through the relay. The main reason behind opening a tech support centre in Texas was not just to get more spannish speakers but because the Americans would prefer Americans with security clearance providing support for military installations
