Hi,

Really hoping someone can help me. I just got the new Blackberry Bold2 and I cannot set up my emails on it. When I try to set up email, the phone says I must upgrade to the new BB email app, when I do, the phone crashes and becomes unrecoverable.

I have tried this twice now and had the same problem. Can anyone help me, either get round this or explain how I can upgrade the email client without "bricking" the phone again?

By Bold2 I assume you mean the 9780 as your profile says?

Do you have a BB dataplan activated on your account?

Was this purchased new or used?

Yes, It has the BB service activated. The phone is new.

And sorry yes, I did mean the 9780.

Reload the device OS.
You might have to keep doing the email update a few times until is stops bricking the device.

It's an issue with the email setup application that RIM still needs to fix.

Does anyone know when this is being fixed and i am having the same problem... cannot sync any calendar or contacts and already had one replacement due to not being able to recover the phone :(

Why can't you sync your calendar or contacts?

That shouldn't have anything to do with the Email Setup update issue.

Same thing happened to me. I did the wireless update of the Email Setup app and it borked my system. The only thing for it was to completely wipe/update the OS via computer. That's when I moved up to OS 6, eschewing the tried & true OS5 with which I had become so comfortable. I figured OS 6 is the future so I might as well get some experience with it. My 9930 won't have an OS 5 option.

Wireless update has NEVER worked 100% for me.

Try a security wipe and then resync. Had a similar experience with my 9800.
