Default Emails not arriving promptly

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

Recently my Bold 8900 doesn't seem to be picking up emails when they are sent. They tend to arrive in clusters of 3 or 4, several hours late.

Have I inadvertently altered the settings? Can't see anything obvious in the email settings.

Help much appreciated.

Have you tried a battery pull?

Who is your cell carrier?

Please update your profile to show your carrier. I know it really isn't "holster".

Was your mail arriving previously? What did you do just before it stopped?

Have you resent service books and done a battery pull?

Sounds like an issue with Hotmail. They frequently have issues with email on BlackBerry.

My @live.com email was a little delayed. I know because I was expecting a particular email and had to go online for it, when windows live email is usually instant.

Not much to do in these situations. Do a battery pull. Resend service books. Wait.

Except if this on going delay is due to Google and or RIM then the routine you describe above will not help. The problem is there is no definitive word as to where the problem ultimately lies.

You miss the point entirely, which is you are limited on what you can do. And OBVIOUSLY you can't do anything about a problem that has nothing to do with your BlackBerry.

Sheesh.

But what makes this a trickier problem to diagnose is that the symptoms are not consistent i.e. the delays are erratic i.e. from almost instantaneous delivery to hour long delays. For this reason one might be tempted to perform the standard battery pull multiple times.

If there was a complete outage more resources would be brought to bear to solve it.

It's not tricky at all. Do a battery pull. Resend service books. If you want, delete your account from BIS, delete service books, wait a little while, then add your account to BIS again. That's it. That is what you can do if you are on BIS and your BlackBerry is connecting to the BIS network. You can call your carrier if you want in these situations, but if you've done the above and you have a connection to BIS, then my advice is the best next step is to just wait, or go read your email online. Nothing especially tricky.

As far as these delays being erratic, yeah, so? That's what I'm noticing with @live.com, and there's nothing tricky about knowing whether it's me or the system...It's the system, somewhere, somehow, which doesn't matter because I can't do anything about it.
