Default 3gp.rem file not working after being undeleted

Please Login to Remove!

When trying to rename a video file on my blackberry, it somehow got deleted by accident. I then connected the blackberry to my computer and used a free undelete utility to restore the file. Then, after moving the file back to the videos folder on my blackberry, it has become unviewable. When I try to open it with the media player, it doesn't work, and when I connect to the Media Manager software, all the other videos in the folder are ok, except for the one I restored.

I know that the .rem files are encrypted, but I don't see why this wouldn't work, since the file is back to how it originally was. Maybe the blackberry keeps some kind of list of encrypted files and this one was removed when it was first deleted? This video is critical to me and I really don't want to lose it.

Does anyone know how I can get this to work?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

You could try connecting your BB to your PC and dragging it off your BlackBerry to your PC.

the .rem is an encrypted file, but it was restored with a free undelete app, I would not put too many bets on the integrity of the file.

Wirelessly posted

I'm also leaning to the suspicion that the file is corrupted.

Is the file small enough to email? If so, I believe you can email it to yourself and the attached file will not be encrypted.

If the file is to big to email, then another thought is to install media manager in desktop manager and then use that to copy the file to your computer, unencrypted.

One other idea, which I'm not sure will work, is to turn off encryption on the blackberry, then move the file to another folder, then move it back to the original folder. That might unencrypt the file, but I don't know.

Anyway, once you remove the encryption, if you still can't play it you'll then know there is some other problem.

Agreed but even so the BlackBerry should be able to read the file regardless the .rem encryption was put on by BlackBerry
