Lost exchange folders!
Please Login to Remove!
I use BES / Exchange. I regularly file my messages in folders on the server from the blackberry. Today I went in to file them and all I have are the web folders! All my exchange folders are gone. I can still delete the message and it will reconcile on exchange and delete, but I can not file.
1. Anyone know how to get the Exchange folders back?
2. I no longer need the web client - can I get rid of those folders all together? I deleted the webmail service book, but that did not do it.

I'm not sure - what version of BlackBerryOS and BES are you using?
I am sure one of the BES admins would know -- I'll move this to the BES Admin corner.

Is it possible BWC overwrote your BES service books? Try resending the service books via BES. Failing that, try reactivating the device. No need to wipe it, you can reactivate it as it is.

Good Point Mark. Cinguar - 4.0 BES - 4.0.0.185 on the handheld.
Really odd deal. Did I loose a service book? Corrupt module?

Well the only thing that seemed to cure it was a wipe / reactivate. That was a weird one...

Has anyone else found a solution to this? I was using a 7100t with OS 3.8 with the BES at work, and it worked just fine. NOw I've switched to the 7100g on Cingular (better coverage) with OS 4.0, and I'm noticing the same problem....
what do you mean that you wiped it and reactivated it?

I wiped the handheld, and sync with BES...that made things work fine, then I set up my BWC accounts and it took away the file tree for my BES account....any help?!?

it's marked desktop, and always has been. When i was on OS 3.8 that setting was on webclient, and I never had a problem. Now if i change it back to that it still doesn't work!
Some people here have fixed this issue....what're your secrets!?!?!?

I had this problem with Lotus Notes 6.5. I had to wipe my handheld and reinstall 4.0. I then pushed a new BWC service book and all is working fine going on a week now.....

Me too! With a twist!
Sometime after I upgraded to Desktop Manager 4.0 and Blackberry OS 4.0.0.219 Platform 1.8.0.129 (I'm not sure what version my BES is, how would I check?) I had the "exact opposite" problem. Whenever trying to file a message from my Web Client, it would only show my Desktop folders. I just limped along for about a week or so, and then today, after I was swapping my SIM with another blackberry for troubleshooting purposes, I now only have my Web Client folders in which to file in.
When it was only Desktop folders, it was always pointed to the "Deleted Items"
When it was only Web Client folders, it was always point to the "Trash" folder.
(I assume this was because I would delete the messages I could, and then when I went back to check if it was fixed, it would default to the last folder I had filed messages from that sender.
I went to Options>Message Services, and actually had 4 options (I think I know why, I had used different computers in the last few months and each time I gave "Desktop" a different name). I tried switched to any of those, no luck.
Just so i don't royally mess my faithful little bb up, do I delete BWC by removing all the service books that start with "Web Client"? And then if that works, get them back by having them sent to me again at cingular.com/blackberry (at the BWC website)
What if i delete all the Desktop service books? How do I get them back?

I'm having this same problem for the 2nd time. I had it with .219 and I had it with .198 so I don't think it's related to software...
Problem is, I can't figure out how to fix this except to DOWNGRADE to an older version.
i.e. When i had the problem on 0.198...going to 0.219 didn't fix it. But going from .219 with the problem to .198 fixed it. However, after going back to .198 about 1-2 weeks later it reappeared.
No clue...getting very frustrated.

PROOF and are weirdness...
I just upgraded to 4.0.0.219 to try and fix the problem...nada. Then I downgraded to 4.0.0.198 JUST NOW AND ITs working again!
WTF?!?! This is bizzarre...seems like there is something in the downgrade process that fixes this but is absent from the upgrade process.
Can someone figure this out.

Just a fun bit of confusion to add to the party.
My exchange account has some rules setup: "Every email from HP, move to HP folder"
Then in BB Redirector, i told it to deliever email from "Selected folders" and choosed inbox and my HP folder.
The emails that arrived in my HP folder can be filed and see the other exchange folders without problem. The ones in inbox say they are in the BWC Trash and when i try to file it still only shows me the BWC folders.
Sent Items are able to be filed without any problems at all.

i think we are getting closer
Blackberry>Options>Service Book>Web Client < Delete
Computer>Destop Manager>Backup and Restore>Advanced>Folders < Clear
(This doesn't cause you to lose any email)
Exchange folders return.
If I do:
Blackberry>Options>Service Book < Undelete
-or-
Computer>BWC>Profile>Send Service Book
Within two minutes (you will observe a large number of wireless traffic) the Exchange folders will again be lost.
I'm gonna soft reset it, give it a day, then tell the BWC to resend the Service book and see what happens

Gave it a few days and a few resets, undeleted the Web Client Service book and it "lost" the Exchange folders again. frustrating
I haven't really got any ideas now, I can mention it to Cingular tech support but I doubt I'd get far.

Maybe try clearing the folder/folder ids through backup and restore->advanced?

If I delete the Web Client Service Book and then delete the folders through the method you mentioned, it would work until i undeleted (or resent) the service book
