Unhappy Application Loader Problems...

Please Login to Remove!

Need advice. I've got a BB7250 from Verizon. Everytime I load 3rd party software on my BB (with only a couple exceptions), it fails to show up listed as an installed item on the Application Loader Listing. The result is that, when I choose to use the Application Loader to install another 3rd party application, it'll install that new application but insists on removing the already installed applications because it doesn't recognize them! Frustration City, for sure.

Is there a way for me to force the Application Loader to recognize and list all the software that is currently installed on my BB? Or, what other ideas does anybody have that might help?

Thanks so much.

Yes. Don't delete the 3rd party application files from your PC from the exact place you loaded it from. If it helps, save the files to a location on your PC that you won't pay attention to or see (not your Desktop). When you delete them from the PC, Application Loader sees this as if you don't want it anymore - afterall, it has no reference point. If you don't delete the files from your PC, then Application Loader won't remove them from the BlackBerry.

Thank you so much! This solves the mystery because I always have loaded the new apps from my desktop and then moved the files into another folder for long-term storage. Guess I confused application loader.

But I gotta say that I think this is poor software design. A better way would be for Application Loader to look at what's on the BB and assume you want it there, regardless of files remaining on the pc. Go Figure.

Anyhow, I sincerely appreciate your help in this matter.

jibi what about applications that are loaded via the javaloader, is there any way to make those not get deleted as well, I have that issue. Also if this helps, is there anyplace or software that will help me make axl for the cod files, if i can do this then I can install them via the desktop manager instead of using javaloader and then I wont have the problem at all. Thanks.

Wow, that seems like a stupid design. I guess I have learned my lesson about installing from the desktop!

DOn't really see it as a bad design as such. If you install something on your PC, would you move the files around afterwards? I know it's a slightly different scenario but if you think about it....

I believe it is. I can install software on my Psion and my Palm unit without worry that I am ties to one computer, or login profile, to install additional software without fear my currently installed software will be automativally de-installed.

I have a bb5810, using the orginal software 3.2 do I need to update to a newer version in order to be able to install any 3rd party software, also, I have my addresses saved in my outlook on my pc, when I go to the address book on my bb, the only thing that shows is a phone number. I am a beginner bb user and I have to say I am not to thrilled with this one. I am a loan officer and this one just isnt working unless I must be stupid and not know how to use it right I dont know LOL.
One more thing, does anyone know of software or games you can dl for free on a 5810.
Thanks
Dani
